As a Materials Lab and CMM Technician, you will provide material analysis and reporting support using material laboratory facilities. Provides analytical services to support failure analysis, reliability investigations, warranty or litigation cases, special process certification or material acceptance for regulatory and contractual requirements. Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and associated equipment to conduct precise measurements of aviation engine components, tooling, and fixtures. Read and interpret specifications from OEM manuals, blueprints, and templates, ensuring adherence to product specifications, including tooling instructions, tolerances, and dimensions. Develop setup sheets and supporting documentation for measurement processes, working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality Assurance teams to resolve measurement and quality issues. Interpret measurement data, including output data and graphical element data, and analyze the final product to verify compliance with specifications outlined in blueprints and technical manuals. Identify discrepancies in output data and determine when the final product does not meet required specifications.

What you'll do:



  • Prepares complex metallurgical tests according to prescribed procedures and maintains records of results.
  • Prepares samples for metallographic analysis including sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching and electro-etching.
  • Ensures compliance to the applicable internal quality requirements.
  • Tracks and distributes test results. Records batch information and prepares logs for traceability.
  • Provides all laboratory services, records and analysis necessary for the support of repair developments.
  • Provides assistance in the interpretation of materials test results and advises on appropriate laboratory analytical techniques to be used for failure analysis, research or ongoing support.
  • Schedules production and project work and generates delivery measures of performance.
  • Maintains all laboratory files and records necessary for the regulatory and contractual needs of the company.
  • Maintains and orders necessary equipment and consumables to perform all laboratory work.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Perform routine calibration and qualification of probes, as well as maintain equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance, including regular cleaning procedures.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of all measurements and inspections.
  • Document CMM program updates and log changes to CMM operating procedures.
  • Provide feedback to engineering, production, and quality assurance teams on measurement results and potential improvements.


What you will need:



  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Metallurgical processes
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of related company instructions and company processes.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
  • College diploma in engineering, sciences, metallurgy; or equivalent.
  • Experience in a metallurgical or chemical laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in operating CMMs and related software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).


Working Conditions:



  • These assignments are performed in temperature-controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Occasional extended periods of standing and lifting of engine components may be required.
