Job Summary/Objective:

Utilize advanced technical expertise to address intricate challenges inherent in the maintenance and operation of complex satellite communication (SATCOM) systems. These tasks often extend beyond the scope of manufacturer's manuals or similar documents, requiring a profound understanding of circuit interrelationships. This role involves exercising independent judgment to conduct detailed circuit analyses, calculate waveforms, and trace signal flow patterns. Additionally, it entails the proficient use of sophisticated test instruments, including high-frequency generators, synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Responsibilities encompass configuring, testing, installing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing diverse satellite platforms supporting WIN-T, along with other strategic and tactical terminals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide and receive technical guidance as necessary from supervisors, higher-level technicians, or lower-level technicians.
  • Ensure strict compliance with accepted practices and assigned work tasks.
  • Collaborate with supervisors or managers to communicate maintenance status, progress, problems, equipment requirements, logistics delays, and corrective actions.
  • Accounts for time labor codes and repair parts used on work requests.
  • Accounts for assigned tools and test equipment.
  • Maintains daily time sheets and makes entries into computer cards.
  • Practices good housekeeping in the assigned work area; observes safety, security, and fire prevention rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates with and advises foreman/manager Technician of maintenance status, progress, problems, equipment requirements, logistics delays, and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science; Electronic Technology; Tele-Communications or other related technical field. OR
  • Seven (7) years of military technical training or equivalent work experience supporting strategic and tactical satellite communications specific to all versions of STT's.
  • Four to seven (4-7) years of hands-on maintenance and operations of WIN-T INC 1, WIN-T INC II Satellite terminals.
  • Knowledgeable and understanding of computer and network maintenance, configurations, data preservation, and restoral.
  • Knowledgeable and understanding of electro-mechanical relationships.
  • Knowledgeable and understanding of satellite terminal operations and telecommunications principles.
  • Knowledgeable and understanding of electro-mechanical relationships.
  • General office skills and the ability to read, write, and speak English as well as understand and interpret military technical manuals, bulletins, and contract language.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a military driver's license within 30 days.
  • May be required to obtain a material handling license and military vehicle license up to five-ton capacities.

Security Clearance: DoD SECRET Level Clearance Required for Specific Positions. Able to pass a background investigation to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card.
