Purpose
Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team performing GIS mapping to assist the GIS Analyst, with the goal of providing mapping services to Teichert and their consultants. May be required to manage and fly the drone. Reports to the Resource Planning Manager but may take direction from the Senior GIS Analyst.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Conducts GIS research involving literature searches, data evaluation, and acquisition.
  2. Implementation of the Drill Hole Database including training, data entry, and documentation.
  3. Provide and create digital and hard copy data.
  4. Maintain and update files in the GIS library.
  5. Performs analysis on new and existing properties.
  6. Provides mapping services for all departments within the company.
  7. Surveying, including but not limited to using the GPS.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as requested by Supervisor.
  9. Promotes a Zero Injury culture through personal adherence to all company safety policies and practices.
  10. May be required to operate the Drone including setting flights, operating, and downloading data.

Role Qualifications & Requirements

Education
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in GIS, Geography, or other related field or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Experience and Industry Expertise:
  • 3 plus years' experience as a GIS Technician or equivalent.

Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Current on all company-required safety training.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD or experience with an equivalent software.
  • Ability to learn to operate computer aided surveying and GPS Systems.
  • Ability to learn to operate the Drone, including acquiring an FAA Remote Piot Certificate. This would include setting flights, analyzing weather in advance, monitoring during flight and hazards, maintaining the drone equipment, and downloading and analyzing acquired data.
  • Experience working effectively in teams, to establish and maintain cross-functional and positive working relationships.
  • Must be able prioritize and manage multiple assignments. Demonstrated strong organizational skills and time management practices and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able clearly communicate and be understood both verbally and in written form by internal and external customers.
  • May require occasional travel to the plant sites. If operating the drone, regular travel to plant sites will be required.

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, and Work Environment

Equipment Used:
  • General office equipment, telephone, automobile, survey equipment, commercial drone, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection) when visiting plants.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working on the computer or attending meetings. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, steep slopes, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Demands of meeting tight deadlines. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.
  • This position splits time between a typical office environment and visiting mine site locations. Extensive travel by car on a weekly basis to mine or plant sites. Plant or mine site locations may contain dust, fumes, debris, medium to loud levels of noise and extreme weather conditions including excessive heat or cold and rain prevalent at times. May travel by car or plane to conferences, seminars, and training sessions.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$69,167.00 - $96,833.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
