Job Description

As a Community Initiatives Coordinator, you'll lead collaborative, community-based efforts to improve public health outcomes across Jackson County. You'll work with local organizations, partners, and residents to identify health priorities, support collective impact initiatives, and promote systems-level solutions. Your work will help shape healthier communities through strategy, facilitation, and evidence-based action.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community stakeholders

  • Facilitate collaborative processes to address complex public health challenges

  • Support the development and evaluation of community improvement plans

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on systems thinking and collective impact frameworks

  • Align initiatives with department goals and community health data

  • Contribute to grant writing, reporting, and resource development

  • Coordinate and track progress toward initiative milestones, timelines, and outcomes

  • Ensure cultural relevance in outreach, messaging, and community engagement

  • Support communication efforts and contribute to public-facing reports and materials

  • Collaborate across divisions and support strategic planning and accreditation efforts

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion/education, or related field

  • 1-2 years of experience leading or facilitating community collaborations

  • Strong understanding of public health theory, community mobilization, and health equity

  • Skilled in group facilitation, systems thinking, and collaborative planning

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities

  • Must meet fleet safety requirements if driving is part of job duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health or related field

  • 3-4 years of experience in public health community collaboration

  • Experience with adaptive facilitation or human-centered design
