This opportunity is in the Insurance Underwriting department

The Insurance Underwriting Department offers a culture of empowerment to produce results and resolve clients' issues. Role Description:

Are you an experienced underwriting leader ready to take the reins of a high-impact regional role? As a Senior Regional Underwriting Manager in our Excess Workers' Compensation line, you'll be accountable for underwriting results, agency management, and developing territorial strategies that drive success. You'll act as a key face of Safety National-both regionally and nationally-building strong relationships with brokers and clients.

In this role, you'll evaluate and underwrite new and renewal Excess WC accounts, using in-depth data such as loss history, state WC benefits, loss trending, and actuarial insights to develop tailored pricing strategies. You'll coordinate reinsurance, assess risk acceptability, and collaborate cross-functionally with departments like Business Development, Claims, and Legal. Your strong analytical skills and sound judgment will shine as you manage underwriting initiatives, write procedures, and support junior team members. Qualifications:

Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree required. A degree in business administration, insurance, accounting, finance, or marketing is preferred.


Required Qualifications:



  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our New York Office. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
  • Experience in underwriting large workers' compensation accounts


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 10 or more years of experience underwriting large workers' compensation accounts
  • Regional/local market knowledge of brokers and accounts
  • CPCU or other insurance-related designations
  • Strong communication and marketing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to cross-department initiatives

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
