Description

Medica's Senior UX Designer will design digital experiences for our customers - members, brokers, providers, and employers - across various channels (e.g. websites, mobile applications, and more). The Digital team is seeking an experienced designer who excels at getting to the root of the problem, helps inform strategy, turns complex user requirements into intuitive designs, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams. The Senior Designer will bring empathy for users to uncover opportunities and design simple experiences that meet their needs, achieve business goals, elevate our brand, and position Medica as the trusted, caring, and connected health plan.

Areas of responsibility



  • Create user-centered wireframes, flow diagrams, prototypes, empathy maps, etc., to identify opportunities, communicate, and deliver design ideas that deliver both business results and delightful on-brand user experiences.
  • Work closely and collaboratively and with cross-functional teams, including UX and UI, product, development, content, marketing, and business, to ensure cohesive digital design solutions.
  • Help define the team's UX patterns, best practices, and documentation to create consistent, highly useable, and accessible experiences.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to junior designers and team members, fostering growth and creative development.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and driving design decisions that meet business and user needs.
  • Identify testing opportunities and measures of success for experience deliverables to demonstrate their value and promote continual improvement.
  • Create interactive prototypes for internal review, customer feedback, and user testing to iterate on designs and improve user experience.
  • Work in an agile environment, define and advocate for user needs and collaborate on deliverables.
  • Stay updated on the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, applying these insights to continually improve the design process and output.


Minimum qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Digital Media, UX/UI Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in UX design with a strong emphasis on web-based solutions and digital platforms, or a related field.
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create compelling digital designs and user-centric experiences for diverse audiences across various devices and channels in a way that supports business goals.


Preferred



  • Extensive experience working in agile, SCRUM team environments, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-fidelity designs.
  • Deep understanding of responsive web design, mobile platforms, and web development processes.
  • Proven track record of designing digital products that deliver meaningful business results.
  • Experience in senior-level design roles.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Experience with accessibility (508 compliance) and design system experience.
  • Familiarity with usability testing, A/B testing, and user research.
  • A passion for staying ahead of the curve in design trends, technology, and user experience best practices.
  • Strong visual and aesthetic design skills; including design systems, layout, color, and typographic skills.


Skills and Abilities



  • Experience providing design direction for digital experiences.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and other relevant prototyping tools.
  • Experience designing for web and/or mobile, considering user needs across channels.
  • Ability to translate complex interactions and processes into simple, intuitive experiences.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate design ideas, concepts, and rationale to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexible to changing business and creative requirements.


This position is a hub-based role which requires onsite presence. To be eligible for consideration, candidates must reside within a commuting distance to one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, or Madison, WI. Onsite frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership and may be up to 2-3 days a week.

The full salary range for this position is $87,100 - $149,300. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
