Job Overview

The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities in alignment with project and manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services, maintaining supply chain continuity, and supporting strategic initiatives. The Senior Buyer collaborates cross-functionally to align procurement plans with operational goals, drives cost-saving opportunities, and manages supplier relationships to support long-term business objectives.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop and manage relationships with new and existing suppliers to support cost reduction, supply chain resilience, and performance improvement
  • Execute sourcing strategies that support cost savings, quality improvement, and inventory targets in alignment with corporate and plant-level objectives
  • Identify and drive cost-reduction initiatives, including positive PPV savings and strategic sourcing plans that optimize spend
  • Manage supplier performance evaluations and negotiate favorable terms for pricing, delivery, and payment terms.
  • Resolve supply chain disruptions and vendor issues, identify alternate sources of supply, and collaborate with stakeholders on compliance and continuity
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and plant leadership teams to align procurement with production planning and operational goals
  • Support new product development, cost-saving reporting, and seamless integration of sourcing strategies across departments
  • Use SAP to manage purchase orders, maintain vendor and material master data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and support continuous improvement of procurement processes-including lead time reduction, lot size optimization, and material availability
  • Act as a mentor and trainer for new and other buyers across multiple facilities, providing ongoing support on procurement processes.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, supplier onboarding standards, and risk mitigation practices
  • Perform other tasks and duties that may be assigned by your manager.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel on business-related trips (up to 20% time); ability to communicate; ability to work on a personal computer or other related equipment as required; light lifting, and physical dexterity also required.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on procurement, sourcing, and/or related experience
  • Experience with ERP Systems, SAP preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Apps (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) is a strong plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
  • High degree of organization, discipline, and business judgment
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) - a strong plus
