The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists with the organization, management, and development of the athletic training program under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities:
- Providing emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of varsity athletic injuries under supervision and guidelines of the team physician;
- Assist with the coordination of all annual varsity athletic physical examinations, medical insurance and other medical administrative information.
- Oversee the primary care coverage, including travel, for varsity teams as designated by the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
- Maintain current individual records of all athletic injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation. Assist with the administrative responsibilities of budgeting, ordering, and inventory control of athletic training supplies.
- Maintain orderly appearance of the athletic training facilities.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Assist in the coordination of fund-raising activities for the athletic training gift account.
- Compile injury statistics and other relevant information.
- Oversee special events and summer conditioning responsibilities as designated by the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
- Continue to remain in good standing with National Board of Certification and maintain New York State registration as required to practice as an Athletic Trainer.
- Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Code of Ethics and rules and regulations.
- Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
- Bachelor's Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
- NATA Board of Certification, Certified Athletic Trainer.
- Immediate eligibility for or current state licensure.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work within the framework of NCAA and Ivy League Conference regulations.
- Experience delivering care specific to the Arts and Science of Athletic Training with athletic training knowledge specific to the sports of Columbia University
