Overview

ViaPath is currently seeking an Accountant to join our team. The Accountant must have a passion for numbers and processes in support of the company's Money Service Business. This will require accuracy and timeliness of financial records for management, tax, and audit purposes. Additional responsibilities include preparing month-end balance sheet reconciliations; posting journal entries; maintaining appropriate supporting documents for general ledger balances and transactions; and maintaining shareable paper and electronic files.

Hybrid Opportunity. Position based at the ViaPath office located in Dallas, TX.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for daily balancing of all ACH transfers and prepares necessary journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and timely posting of all journal entries pertaining to the banking process, including bank fees, accruals, missing deposits, deposit variances, etc.
  • Responsible for the set-up of new client bank accounts and performing bank account changes.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for numerous bank accounts with high volume activity.
  • Perform monthly bank to book reconciliations for all client accounts to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for high volume credit card processing with multiple merchant accounts and various credit card processors.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for high volume cash and coin transactions processed at kiosks located nationwide and effectively communicate to field service personnel to ensure all kiosk cash deposits are balanced and processed by the banks in a timely manner.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with various regulatory audits and work closely with the Compliance Department.
  • Work on ad hoc projects to support business line.
  • Assist with quality control of month end close; auditing and monitoring prior to month end.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Proactive project management skills including identifying issues, proposing solutions, and working with others to implement solutions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2 to 5 years of accounting experience in an accounting department.
  • Experience in the banking industry or with money transmitters preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Must have a solid understanding of debits, credits, and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills to include V look up, pivot tables, and add-ins. Solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Practical knowledge of the interdependencies between Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Ability to accumulate, organize and manipulate quantitative data to identify relationships and explain trends.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to summarize and reconcile large quantities of data.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to include strong math skills.
  • Superb communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • Knowledge/Experience with BI Reporting preferred.
