The New York State Integrated Pest Management Program (NYSIPM) at Cornell AgriTech is part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The program leads research initiatives and provides research-based educational outreach in the areas of agriculture and community IPM throughout the region. NYSIPM is part of the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) at Cornell University, the Land Grant University of New York State. Position Summary:

As a collaborative and detail-oriented Program/Extension Aide III supporting the New York State Integrated Pest Management (NYSIPM) program, you will help ensure that our digital presence remains accurate, relevant, and user-centered. Working under the supervision of the Digital Systems Specialist you will assist in maintaining, updating, and improving digital content across NYSIPM websites and platforms, helping to create a seamless and accessible user experience. Your responsibilities will include web content updates, assisting with large-scale website migrations, supporting digital asset management, and contributing to quality assurance and accessibility efforts.

You will support internal workflows and documentation, help triage digital helpdesk requests and contribute to broader content strategy and user experience goals. This position requires a strong foundation in digital tools and web best practices, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure NYSIPM content meets high standards for usefulness, accuracy, and accessibility.

You may also contribute to iMapInvasives, a statewide invasive species mapping and reporting tool, by providing administrative and technical support to its user base and platform infrastructure. This includes assisting with bug reports, requests, documentation, and user-facing communications, with dotted line supervision for this portion of your job provided by the NYSIPM Digital Outreach and Development Coordinator.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in creating, editing, and maintaining web content, including fact sheets, pages, events, and profiles.
  • Support large-scale content migrations, including platforms such as PSEP and LMS.
  • Help maintain digital asset libraries (e.g., PDFs, images, internal docs, eCommons).
  • Conduct periodic quality assurance checks for content accuracy and accessibility.
  • Triage and track helpdesk submissions; support internal documentation and workflows.
  • Serve as baseline support for web-based pest reporting platforms including data administrators and assist with platform-related issues.
  • Provide general help desk and baseline technical assistance for web-based pest reporting platforms
  • Assist in writing training and user support documentation for platform stakeholders.

This is a full-time position at 97.5% FTE. This is a one-year term appointment that is contingent upon available work, funding, and performance.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 2 days per week and on-site 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke, or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree and up to 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted NYS driver's license and be cleared to drive for university business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical, as is ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have experience with computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe, etc.
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently under general supervision.
  • Effectively use judgment to prioritize and accomplish tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in digital media, user experience, environmental science, GIS, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with iMapInvasives or invasive species tracking tools.
  • Ability to track, document, and communicate user support issues clearly to technical staff.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO practices, or digital QA processes.
  • Experience with helpdesk platforms or issue tracking tools like Notion or Trello.
  • Strong interest in agriculture, environmental data, invasive species, or citizen science platforms.
