Overview

The Global Low Latency UNIX Support Team is searching for a professional who is highly skilled and proficient with the Linux (SLES, RHEL) Operating System. The ideal professional will have Extensive experience as a Linux specialist, along with knowledge of physical infrastructure and hardware such as HP ProLiant DL380/580 G7/8/9/10/11) and Synergy series. VMware and/or Global Control Programme (GCP) is a plus. The professional will provide dedicated UNIX support for the Global Low Latency UNIX estate of 2300+ servers installed in 30+ global Exchanges Colocation sites and Core Data Centers. We are looking for a high level of technical UNIX skills, good communication skills and good problem-solving skills, Responsibilities will include covering all stages of the hardware lifecycle - Planning, Deployment, Activation, Vendor Management and providing exceptional support to multiple application platforms across different business lines, such as Foreign Exchange (FX), Market Data, Rates, Equity Cash, Equity Autobahn Trading, Commodities, Derivatives, Algo Trading, etc.

What You'll Do

  • Provide dedicated support to Operational and Project-Based activities for the Global Unix Low Latency environment utilizing ServiceNow for Incident, Problem and Change management

  • Perform system specific tuning, such as CPU, kernel, Traded Credit Positions (TCP)/IP, network NIC card, memory, etc. Collaborate with our business partners to improve combined understanding of this tuning

  • Stay abreast of and evaluate new technology solutions and assist with their deployment within the organization

  • Provide guidance to our business partners in relation to Deutsche Bank's low latency UNIX environment and technologies

  • Look for opportunities to improve and streamline our environment with tools such as Ansible

  • Some out-of-hours and weekend work will be required to comply with applicable change windows

How You'll Lead

  • You will communicate with staff at all levels of seniority across different business areas, locations and time zones

  • You will be confident to represent the team as a subject matter expert within meetings with other stakeholders within the organization

  • You will provide guidance to new members of the team and assistance when problems are escalated to you

Skills You'll Need

  • Extensive experience with Linux (RHEL or SLES) systems administration: upgrades, patching and configuration management, performance management, troubleshooting, analysis and capacity planning

  • Strong skills in TCP/IP networking & advanced network routing and tuning, network topology and firewalls, Experience in Shell scripting and/or Perl or Ansible to automate various tasks

  • Knowledge of advanced Linux Kernel tuning and optimization including latency and jitter reduction enhancements, BIOS configurations and tunings, Low Latency & Throughput, Linux real-time kernel, kernel-bypass (such as OpenOnload), FIFO, Risk Review (RR) and CFS Scheduling

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a high pressure, dynamic, multitask environment, SAN storage technologies such as SAN replication and clustering technologies such as VCS are desirable

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree within the Information Technology (IT) field

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

  • In-depth understanding of firewalls, network switching and routing

  • In depth understanding of Linux Kernel Tuning

  • Ability to work independently and think creatively to investigate and solve technical problems

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York City office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $203,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
