The Water Supply Business Class (WS BC) is a team of water resources civil engineers, planners, modelers, economists, and Project Managers. The team works on a wide variety of complex multi-disciplinary and multi-benefit projects focused on flood risk management ranging from planning, to Risk Informed Decision Making, to analysis and design. The primary focus of the WS BC Leader is to plan, direct, and oversee internal operations of the BC as well as provide support to the WS team on delivery and quality.

In the role of Water Supply Business Class Leader, we'll count on you to:



  • Support NorCal Water Resources Management Market Sector initiatives, projects, marketing, clients, growth, BC coordination, and maintain open communication with staff and the NorCal leadership team.
  • Assist and lead Section Managers on tasks related to BC operations with a focus on local and national workload support, staffing needs, and coordination of hiring efforts.
  • Manage risk related to delivery of WS projects and support project teams as needed.
  • Work with NorCal's leadership team to address issues related to delivery, to support and lead communications, and to obtain approvals for BC operations.
  • Attend and participate in national workload calls. Coordinate with the national WS team and BC Director.
  • Assist and/or lead pursuits of a variety of flood related projects.
  • Prepare and/or review scopes and fees related to WS BC projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and support mid and senior level staff.
  • Commitment to actively manage the BC, staff, and provide timely as needed support.
  • Proactively plan, organize, track, and evaluate BC work and support needs.
  • Provide and or assist with technical reviews and provide guidance related to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, design and construction, agency coordination, and overall project implementation.
  • Perform technical engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique elements that have limited or no specific code-based guidance.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CA Professional Engineering registration
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position is $156,464.00- $223,520.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
