Principal System Integration Engineer - Positive Displacement Chillers- Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

Daikin Applied is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal System Integration Engineer - Positive Displacement Chillers to join our rapidly growing organization. This role will lead the integration of HVAC subsystems to ensure world class execution of NPI programs on the Positive Displacement Engineering team. The work environment is fast-paced, and the candidate must be driven with a high attention to detail. The success of the organization relies on the success of the team. The individual must be a team-player with excellent communication skills, and eager to collaborate and learn. The candidate should have experience with the development of HVAC systems, or experience with the development of similar technologies such as rotating machinery/turbines, internal combustion engines, compressors, and/or industrial heat exchangers.

Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN

What you will do:



  • Develop and own the strategy for subsystem integration in alignment with the engineering and marketing specifications. Ensure cross functional teams follow design rules and guidelines. Ensure thoughtful and holistic product design across all functional areas of the business

    • System Integration responsibility will include, but is not limited to, the following subsystems:

      • vapor compression refrigeration systems
      • fans, motors, mechanical drives, and variable speed technologies
      • pumps and fluid flow control devices
      • heat exchangers
      • cabinetry/structural systems
      • unit controls Hardware and Software






    • Oversee engineering process with particular focus on DFMEA, DFM, DVP&R for the various subsystems to ensure world class engineering and development practices


  • Lead the Platform Architecture and Planning for next generation product roadmaps

    • Develop rules and process documentation to enforce modular architecture and part reuse
    • Set measurements for baseline and target subsystem modularity/reuse
    • Ownership of modularity at the product and platform level
    • Partner with SME's on key subsystems to develop architecture and multi-generational product plans
    • Oversee design reviews and enforce compliance with platform architecture rules and documentation

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 4-year degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 10 years of engineering experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of people mentorship and project leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a "team-player" mentality


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in technical, scientific, engineering, or related area
  • Experience in the HVAC industry

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $152,600 - $197,000 plus a 25% bonus target in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
