Job Description:

Perkins Coie is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to take on the responsibilities of Director of Marketing Analytics and Operations to work under the direction of the Chief Client Officer (CCO) to develop and manage the business, competitive, and client intelligence programs and projects. The individual is responsible for overseeing marketing and business development technology, marketing budgets, vendor relationships, select national services and advancing operational excellence and client service delivery of the Marketing and Business Development teams.

The Director of Marketing Analytics and Operations works with the CCO, fellow Marketing and Business Development Directors and firm management (including, but not limited to, IT, Finance, HR and other internal departments) to develop analytics and implement programs designed to support the strategic growth and business objectives of the firm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

  • Collaborate with the CCO and other Marketing/BD Directors to develop business intelligence, use technology, and provide analytics to drive and support integrated marketing and business development programs.
  • Coordinate all internal and third-party resources to effectively implement strategic projects.
  • Coordinate the development and resource allocation of budgets for practices, industries, sectors and regions.

Technology, Analytics and Insights

  • Oversee the strategy, implementation, and optimization of the firm's CRM system (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, HubSpot) to ensure accurate client and prospect data.
  • Partner with Business Development and Marketing teams to enhance client segmentation, pipeline tracking, and opportunity management using CRM data.
  • Analyze data from CRM, website traffic, email campaigns, social media, experience management tools, third-party sources, and business development activities to identify trends and growth opportunities.
  • Lead the development of marketing performance metrics, providing data-driven insights to evaluate campaign effectiveness, client engagement, and business development initiatives.
  • Create and maintain marketing dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, or other BI platforms to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead the adoption of AI-driven analytics and automation tools to enhance marketing insights and efficiency.
  • Lead insights team who will identify and support client segmentation, industry trends, cross-selling opportunities, and competitive intelligence to support business development efforts.
  • Develop and refine ROI models for business development activities, sponsorships, and client events.
  • Develop strategies to automate and streamline marketing workflows, improve efficiency in content distribution, lead tracking, and event management.
  • Oversee and manage all marketing and business development technology, including:
    • Proposal generator
    • Experience tracking
    • Opportunity tracking
    • CRM
    • Website and social media platforms
    • Third-party data inputs
  • Conduct regular audits and make enhancements, as necessary, to existing systems; identify and evaluate potential new technology solutions, including build vs. buy analysis; and leverage cross-disciplinary technologies to strengthen the effectiveness of the firm's internal and external marketing and business development capabilities.
  • Manage system vendors, including negotiating licensing, service and maintenance agreements, overseeing system upgrades and customizations, and monitoring key performance indicators to ensure a consistent high level of service and performance. Collaborate with IT and vendors to ensure marketing technologies are effectively integrated and aligned with firm systems.

Operations

  • Standardize and streamline processes, tools and templates to automate work and information flows and promote consistent, high quality client service delivery by team members.
  • Oversee development and management of department budgets, conducts budget and expense analysis, and assist CCO with department-wide budget planning and management.
  • Support CCO and fellow Directors in coordination of the firm's overall marketing and business development plan, including measurement of progress.

Management

  • Supervise and mentor professionals on the Analytics and Operations team.
  • Assist CCO in implementing organizational structure changes to align with firm priorities.
  • Lead change management within the team.
  • Develop toolkits, reference materials and training programs designed to promote the career advancement, skills development and operational excellence of team members.
  • Design effective onboarding process to integrate new team members quickly.

This position may require travel.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

Ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, using data from disparate sources to form insights that can be used by lawyers and business development professionals to add more value to our clients. Individual should be client-service focused and detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have experience working with C-level executives. The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment is critical, as well as excellent project management skills, including the ability to conceptualize, plan and implement on time and within a budget. This individual must be able to manage projects across functional areas and geographies and work within a team structure and have the ability to effectively lead and positively motivate cross-functional teams.

SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED

Expertise in CRM systems (InterAction, Salesforce, HubSpot) and marketing analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics).

Strong background in data visualization, marketing automation, and experience management systems.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

Qualified candidates must have a either a BA, BS or BBA, as well as a minimum of 10 years of marketing/business development experience, preferably in the legal or professional services industry. Those with an MBA or JD are preferred.

This position may be filled in the following location(s). The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Colorado compensation range: $163,790 to $294,920 annually

Illinois compensation range: $172,860 to $311,260 annually

Washington state compensation range: $172,770 to $311,100 annually
