Job Title: Maintenance Planner

Classification:Hourly- Non-exempt

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Department: Maintenance

Summary of Job

The Maintenance Planner is a pivotal role within our Maintenance Management team, focusing on optimizing maintenance processes for safety, quality, and customer focus. This position involves strategic planning, the use and continued development of our eMaint software, and oversee spare parts and inventory levels within eMaint software to guarantee timely availability.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The right candidate will lead their job with a strong safety mindset including but not limited to:



  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule within our eMaint software for all equipment, machinery, and facilities, considering preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts and inventory levels to ensure timely availability for maintenance tasks within our eMaint software.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks or procurement of spare parts.
  • Evaluate non-emergency work requests, develop scope of work, and inspect job location to determine job requirements.
  • Estimate labor hours, skillsets, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools required to complete proactive jobs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Gather relevant technical documentation such as drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists from equipment histories and OEM manuals system.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and ensure necessary parts, tools, and supplies are available to support maintenance activities.
  • Verifies the availability of parts prior to scheduling the job. Arrange for special tools and auxiliary equipment when required.
  • Maintains an organized and prioritized work order backlog to determine the next highest priority jobs to be planned next and maintains the Work Order Completion rate at or above 90%.
  • Employs the continuous improvement process to update Work Order Requests for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Conducts weekly planning & scheduling meetings with Production to determine work order priorities, communicate work order status and alter planned maintenance activities if necessary.
  • Creates a Weekly Technician Schedule that includes priority planned jobs and preventative maintenance tasks that utilize 100% of the available technician labor hours.
  • Manage purchasing functions for the maintenance department, including processing requisitions into purchase orders as a backup to the Maintenance Administrator.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all in-process, scheduled, and emergency maintenance work.
  • Improves work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through the review process and use of maintenance KPI's.
  • Maintains records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters.
  • Trains site employees on eMaint software and ensures that it is working with integrity and is being utilized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support maintenance operations and department goals.

  • Must be proficient in reading electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics schematics/ blueprints.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.



Environment



  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit .
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+.


Physical Characteristics



  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 60 pounds).
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed.

Education and Experience



  • High school diploma or Equivalent, technical or vocational training in a related field is preferred.
  • Two years similar experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (eMaint software) and proficiency in office suite computer applications.
