Housing Support and Yardi Specialist

Ravines Edge The Housing Support and Yardi Specialist is responsible for utilizing Yardi property management software, to analyze and improve various aspects of property management operations. The position will ensure the system contains accurate information, is compliant and operates efficiently. The position is responsible for managing Yardi user accounts, working to resolve system issues, responding to system inquiries and providing orientation, education and training related to the software.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Maintain a strong understanding of Yardi's various modules, capabilities and enhancements
  • Responsible for resolving technical issues and providing support to users of Yardi system
  • Responsible for property set-up and maintenance of datasets
  • Responsible for entering rent changes for all properties and for review and verification of property certifications to support rent changes
  • Responsible for entering, overseeing and verifying new HUD "Income Limits" for all UCH Properties. Responsible for the reconciliation of any monthly voucher certification discrepancies by working with Contract Administrators and UCH Staff as needed
  • Maintain and correct HUD Secure Server for Voucher and Certification Queries
  • Provide and coordinate training for new Housing Managers and other Housing staff members as needed
  • Develop systems operations manuals, job aides specific to UCH and its policies and procedures
  • Investigate and evaluate additional Yardi features and make recommendations for implementation. Represent affordable housing in interdepartmental meetings around Yardi enhancements
  • Responsible for coordinating and/or implementing new features and training on new functionalities
  • Provide support to Housing Managers as needed including, but not limited to the following areas of responsibility:
    • Move-in procedure and creating and maintaining a waiting lists
    • Move out procedure and any necessary resident refund corrections
    • Monthly Flow process, preparation of monthly voucher, entering Housing Assistance Payments and Rent Receipts
    • TRACS transmissions to Contract Administrators and/or HUD
    • Creation and submission of Special Claims for payment
  • Support and expediate system set-up functions for new communities
  • Create new user profile accounts and adjust existing roles, permissions and menus in Property Management Software
  • Assist with assessment of procedures to identify system or workflow improvements to minimize issues and maximize efficiencies
  • Responsible for creating and running reports on key performance indicators and reports that optimize business processes
  • Provide training on UCH/HUD Property Management Policies and Procedures related to software
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills:

Must be able to proficiently operate a computer, the Internet, Microsoft Office, other relevant software, and basic office equipment; Must be adept at the use of HUD and internal accounting systems and other related housing software

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience:

Minimum of 5-years' experience in housing management including working with related technical systems, previous experience providing training to others

Certifications &
Licenses:

Valid Driver's license required;

Certified Occupancy Specialist certificate or equivalent

Other Requirements:

Prior experience with subsidies, HUD policies, Section 8, Section 236, or tax credits required; Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities; Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, HUD handbooks and notices; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
