Overview

TRC is launching our new Youth Energy Internship to support the development of our increasingly diverse workforce within energy efficiency across Oregon and SW Washington. Through the program, interns will generate skills necessary to enter the energy workforce by obtaining certifications, performing field work and engaging with partners. This 1-year program (tentatively starting October 2024) will consist of 1-on-1 mentoring, coursework, field work and career development.

The position may require travel across Oregon and SW Washington to meet with customers, trade ally contractors, community organizations and to attend trade shows and conferences. Work-related travel will be provided or reimbursed. The ideal candidate is interested in serving their community's energy efficiency needs and is willing to learn.

Previous experience with energy efficiency programs, building performance principles and best practices and/or construction and facility management is not required.

Responsibilities

By the end of the internship, interns will have...

  • Developed a successful 1-on-1 mentoring relationship with an expert in the energy industry
  • Become certified to perform applicable skills in the industry
  • Assisted on energy efficiency projects serving their community
  • Received support in applying and obtaining post-internship professional opportunities

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Resident of Oregon
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Interest in learning about energy efficiency
  • Commitment to Energy Trust of Oregon's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present program information to a wide variety of customers with varying understanding of energy efficiency
  • Knowledge and familiarity of methods for saving energy, sustainable building practices and technologies and experience with utility programs
  • Bilingual in English and another language

Salary and Benefits

The position is a full-time, 1-year position, with an hourly rate of $25/hr. TRC is an equal opportunity employer, with a benefits package including health insurance.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
