The Marine Technical Procurement Manager will be responsible for driving procurement efficiency and vendor alignment across the Hornblower brand, with a focus on MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) categories. This role will work closely with Marine Procurement Agents across all business units to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing and inventory management. Key responsibilities include developing strong supplier relationships, leading cost-reduction initiatives, and ensuring alignment with operational needs. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong analytical skills and a passion for optimizing processes and delivering results. They bring experience in vendor negotiations, contract management, and identifying strategic opportunities through data and collaboration. This individual must be adaptable, solutions-oriented, and committed to upholding Hornblower's RESPECT Service System and core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The successful Procurement Manager will support the Hornblower's Group Marine team as a Subject Matter Expert in both the maintenance and repair procurement categories; uses knowledge/expertise of categories to manage cost drivers, enhance supplier base, provide market innovation to capture lower cost and/or higher value alternatives to meet business objectives. Will work closely with distributors, OEMs, integrators, and service providers as well as Marine and Fleet Directors, Fleet Manager, and Financial Analyst to collaborate on all category related projects. Purpose of role: managing and ensuring cost, availability, innovation, and quality according to target setting and business unit requirements per given area/market Value add: identifies cost savings opportunities through commercial, demand, specification, and process improvements Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Category Strategy
- End to end accountability for defining the category and supplier strategy with stakeholders and cross-functional team (including across divisions)
- Strategic interface towards supplier and accountable for building strong and strategic supplier relationship and performance management.
- Understands supplier market dynamics/intelligence (incl. technology road map from suppliers) and uses it as input to the strategy.
- As a member of one of a large global corporation, interface with the group and leverage the purchasing power and resources available.
- Coordinate supply chain adjustments with deviations / schedule changes.
- Coordinate Inventory Management solutions that meet business unit capabilities and goals.
Maintaining & Repairs category-specific knowledge
- Proven experience in M&R operations, ideally in a procurement management role overseeing maintenance and repair purchasing or supporting operational M&R functions.
- Strong background in negotiating with M&R suppliers, including OEMs, distributors, integrators, and service providers.
- Working knowledge of marine vessel systems such as engines, generators, electrical systems, and HVAC components.
- Marine vessel operational experience is a plus, though not mandatory.
- Skilled in researching, developing, and applying best practices to drive on-time delivery, cost optimization, quality improvements, and supplier performance.
- Proficient in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contract terms, resolving disputes, and securing credits for non-conforming parts or services.
- Acts as a strategic liaison with key suppliers and holds accountability for supplier performance and relationship management.
- Ensures compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across business divisions.
Sourcing execution
- Demonstrated experience managing procurement activities specific to Maintenance & Repair (M&R), including previous roles in M&R purchasing, procurement leadership, or hands-on operational support.
- Proven ability to negotiate with and manage a range of suppliers, including OEMs, parts distributors, integrators, and service providers.
- Strong understanding of key marine vessel systems, such as propulsion engines, generators, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Familiarity with marine operations is beneficial, though not required.
- Adept at identifying and implementing best practices to optimize supplier performance, cost, delivery timelines, and quality standards.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, negotiating terms and conditions, and resolving performance issues or disputes.
- Responsible for driving supplier performance, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring alignment with category goals.
- Ensures compliance with internal procurement policies and relevant regulatory requirements across all operational units.
Product/service purchasing:
- Understands purchasing activities related to purchase order generation, goods receipts, and supplier invoicing and payment.
- Ensures compliance and other statutory compliances across divisions.
Grooming:
- All crew members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available in the Employee Handbook).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently.
- Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely
- Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel.
- Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job.
Work Environment:
- Office environment, stairs available. Work is administrative in nature.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, vendor relations, and cross-functional collaboration across operational and technical teams.
- Proven ability to lead change and deliver results across multiple business units and stakeholder groups.
- Strong background in negotiating complex contracts, managing RFPs, and driving cost savings in multi-unit operations.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to support divisional offices, suppliers, and port operations.
- Comfortable working from a corporate office environment, with flexibility to visit supplier facilities and marine ports as needed.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and key stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and professional engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to create reports, presentations, and manage data efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proactive, self-starter mindset.
