The Color Matcher position is responsible for leading activities related to new color development, and wet and dry color matching within the Design Center of the Performance Coatings Group. This position requires proficiency with spectrophotometers, color readers software, decorative aggregate suppliers, and strong organizational and communication skills. The incumbent will have opportunities to demonstrate leadership, while providing needed support to internal customers such as sales, management, manufacturing, marketing, quality, commercialization and will also be required to occasionally support external customers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage custom sample requests, including color matching and coordination with clients.
  • Handle incoming emails related to color matching requests and provide timely responses.
  • Oversee inventory of wet and dry materials, including flakes and quartz, and replenish as necessary.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with sample production processes and high-performance flooring systems.
  • Proficiently operate spectrophotometers and color reader software for accurate color matching.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports and record data on color matching results.
  • Mostly effect liquid colors of standard complexity and difficult solids - Epoxy, MMA, PA, PU, PUC
  • Match dry samples of decorative chip, quartz and metallic
  • Regularly identifies color trends in batch adjustments to provide recommendations for local card maintenance. With support, can locate the physical root cause of a problem or a distressed color batch. Trains new technicians with test methods, batch color adjustments, lab analytical/equipment capabilities, and equipment calibration methods.
  • Complies with all site safety procedures and identifies/implements safety improvements. Speaks up when unsafe procedures are being practiced.

  • Offer suggestions and resources to support team goals.

  • Exhibit strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts related to sample production and color matching.
  • Adhere to production processes and schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports related to sample production and inventory
  • Demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate machinery as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate Degree in a related field, or minimum of five years of experience in color matching, blending, or related areas is preferred.
  • We are looking for candidates with a strong background in color precision and blending techniques to enhance our team's expertise.
  • Strong background in sample production and color matching processes.
  • Proficiency in using spectrophotometers and color readers, with experience in related software tools.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and provide support to team members.
  • Physical fitness to lift and manage heavy materials.
  • Ability to read, write, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Previous experience in a lab or sample production environment is highly desirable.

  • Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
