Pharma Technical Technology (PTT) in Pharma Technical Operations (PT) enhances industrialization and technical product management through SHE integration, maintenance, facility fitness, performance optimization, and scalable processes, focusing on robustness, efficiency, and reliability.

The global Manufacturing Science and Technology (gMSAT) within PTT manages commercial products, new technologies, standardization, and risk mitigation for Large and Small Molecules.

The Operations Group Lead oversees product industrialization and process improvements, providing second-level support, managing transfers, and deploying new technologies. They ensure supply reliability and regulatory compliance and collaborate with site and MSAT leaders, representing technological needs and developing optimized processes and regulatory materials. This role is vital for integrating new technologies and improvements across Roche's manufacturing network.

• Lead a network of around 20 senior process and technology experts. Responsible for the coaching, development, and engagement of this global technical team
• Drive systematic process improvements, support manufacturing networks in investigations, CAPAs, troubleshooting, and deployment of technology including real-life scaled experimentation through pilot plants. Lead an execution-focused team to industrialize products and scale new technologies
• Lead portfolio master plans for DS/DP, mitigate risks, drive improvements, and ensure alignment with global technical initiatives. Provide strategic oversight for portfolio-wide initiatives and regulatory submissions, and oversee process validation studies
• Collaborate with local MSAT groups and interface with Technical Development, Quality, and Manufacturing Sites (internal and external) to support Make-Assess-Release activities, troubleshoot, align on process requirements, and ensure quality milestones are met
• Set the vision and strategy for process improvements and technology deployments. Actively contribute to PTT's vision and priorities, and promote digital and data initiatives
• Support Product Technical Leads and Product Stewards to ensure seamless product industrialization, drive systematic process improvements, and oversee second source transfers and technology innovations. Guide prioritization of investments in long-term product health and continuous improvement
• Establish a process performance ecosystem leveraging advanced data analytics. Collaborate with PTLs, TDLs, and PSLs to design and implement optimized processes. Key collaboration partner for Site General Managers and local MSAT PT MSAT Manufacturing Site Heads, providing strategic oversight and technical expertise in key technical governance forums.

• Advanced degree in a scientific discipline with over 15 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including roles in technical development, process development, operations/manufacturing, or related areas
• Significant senior leadership experience across various expertise areas, utilizing advanced VACC leadership skills to guide and develop teams
• Proven technical expertise in DS or DP process development, improvement, and technology industrialization for large molecules. Demonstrated strategic agility, aligning with Roche's leadership model that combines strategic clarity with innovation and coaching abilities
• Outstanding communicator with the ability to build connections, encourage feedback, and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment where team members feel valued and empowered
• Established recognition in industry forums as an expert in manufacturing technologies and processes. Willingness to travel less than 10% as required

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $252,000 to $468,000 annually.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
