Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Governmental and Community Relations, the Government & Community Relations Analyst specializes in public higher education government and community relations, conducting in-depth research and analysis on policies affecting educational institutions, advocating for initiatives that support student success, research funding, institutional growth, and community engagement. The Government & Community Relations Analyst will collaborate with government agencies, community leaders, and educational stakeholders to develop strategic policy recommendations, ensuring alignment with legislative priorities and institutional objectives. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor legislative trends, prepare policy briefs, engage in outreach, assist in hosting on campus and off campus events and briefings to foster strong partnerships that enhance the institution's role within the community and influence positive policy outcomes.

Government and Community Relations are critically important in higher education right now due to several key factors shaping the landscape of colleges and universities:

* Funding & Financial Support: UCR relies on government funding, including federal and state appropriations, grants, and financial aid programs like Pell Grants. Advocating for sustained investment in higher education is crucial for institutional stability.
* Policy & Regulation Compliance: Government relations helps ensure that policies are in compliance with various government regulations related to accreditation, data privacy, accessibility and financial reporting.
* Legislation Impact: Shaping legislation and supporting educationals goals through advocacy such as proposing policies on issues like loan forgiveness, affirmative action and campus safety.
* Access & Affordability: Promote policies that expand financial aid, reduce barriers to access, and support equity and inclusion initiatives.
* Workforce & Economic Impact: Foster partnerships that align academic programs with workforce needs. Highlighting the university's economic contributions to secure public support.

UCR has largely enjoyed a positive town and gown relationship. Change in local representation requires a greater presence in community.

This role is essential to help support GCR in influencing policy, securing funding, and to ensure we can meet our mission effectively.

The full salary range for the Government & Community Relations Analyst is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $90,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
