Position Summary



Looking for a ministry leader to advance the spiritual ministry of The Salvation Army in Bend Corps in conjunction with the services provided through Cascade Division.



Essential Functions




Responsibilities:



  1. Provide spiritual ministry as well as financial and property management for existing Salvation Army Bend Corps
  2. Help develop ministry outreach to the local community, including clients being served by The Salvation Army, but not limited to.
  3. Prepare and provide leadership for Sunday worship and Sunday school, mid-week adult Bible study, Celebrate Recovery, or similar spiritual instruction as identified by local needs and following the Corps ministry minimum standards. Establish a stable, growing, and active multi-generational congregation.
  4. Recruit, train, oversee, and manage volunteers to assist in all areas of spiritual programming
  5. Work to develop monthly family outreach events as well as establish other foundational Salvation Army programs for children and adults
  6. Join the local Service Club to recruit potential Advisory Board members and begin fundraising efforts
  7. Provide leadership and work closely with Bend Corps social services staff to provide social and spiritual support to the community and their families
  8. Cultivate, train, and lead volunteers according to TSA PTM standards for TSA projects, programs, and events.
  9. In partnership with DHQ, contact local city officials to determine community needs and help provide Salvation Army support as appropriate
  10. Record statistics and maintain records of all programs, membership rolls, etc., as per standard policy and procedure
  11. Report all accidents and facility safety concerns to DHQ Business Department
  12. Manage and maintain all ministry property, including facilities, furnishings, equipment, and vehicles but not limited to, that is assigned to the Bend Corps
  13. Ensure the safety and proper conduct of those using the ministry area for services
  14. Maintain a high professional standard, keeping the highest levels of confidentiality and trust, realizing that you are a mandated reporter as per Protect the Mission Policies of The Salvation Army
  15. Become proficient in all related Social Service and Corps data reporting systems (Corps management and Well Sky).
  16. Manage, hire, and uphold TSA kettle financial and community standard policies.
  17. Work closely with DHQ leadership to develop a thriving faith community in Bend that will grow the Kingdom of God and strengthen The Salvation Army




Working Conditions



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer and to understand written information.




  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment.
  • Must possess or be willing to learn excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others while responding to direction and feedback.
  • This position has access to confidential and private information, and confidentiality and privacy must be observed.
  • Must be able to travel overnight or out-of-state and must be able to drive a motor vehicle and travel by air.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, usually an automobile or passenger van.
  • Available to work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice.




Minimum Qualifications



Skills, Knowledge & Abilities




  1. Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist or be one within 60 days.
  2. Must understand and apply Salvation Army doctrine and practices to daily living.
  3. Must have knowledge and experience leading Salvation Army specific programs.


4. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

5. A minimum of 2 years of previous youth ministry experience. The leadership of Salvation Army youth programs is preferred.

6. Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.




1. Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable).

2. A criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.

3. Able to use all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
