Job Overview

The Senior Enterprise Endpoint Management Engineer - JAMF Administrator, UIS - Georgetown University will be responsible for all aspects of macOS system administration across all Georgetown Departments.

This role will have end-to-end ownership of the JAMF/macOS environment, including engineering solutions to secure, deploy, and manage new and previously enrolled devices independent of the University's on-prem networks. The engineer will write and fully own the underlying code for consistent and secure execution of everyday tasks and specialized cases. This role will also be a backup support for Intune administration, including compliance policies for conditional access, application deployment, patching, management, and troubleshooting.

Work Interactions

This position works independently and regularly with the university cyber security, desktop support, and collaboration services teams. Collaboration and coordination with other university technology providers are also required.

The position will report to the senior manager of endpoint management and is expected to establish and maintain regular contact with peers at other institutions.

This position has been designated as Telework (Hybrid 1-2 days a month - as necessary).

This position is essential in establishing and maintaining security controls for all macOS devices at the University.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting MACs and working with JAMF in an enterprise environment
  • 5 years of JAMF Pro experience
  • JAMF Certified Expert Certification or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly communicate steps to resolve end user's issues
  • Strong macOS experience in an Active Directory Environment
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability and desire to take ownership, seeing tasks and projects through to satisfaction and completion.
  • This role will require occasional evening and weekend work, sometimes at short notice.

Required Certifications and Skills

  • Apple Certifications (for example, ACSP, ACTC, ACSA, ACS, ACMA)
  • Experience imaging Apple Mac devices (JAMF or other Apple imaging tools and processes)
  • Proven ability to document issue resolution for service desk knowledge base
  • ITIL exposure
  • Experience using both Jira and Confluence

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and end-users.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AppleScript or other macOS automation tools.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security tools and practices (e.g., anti-virus, EDR solutions).
  • Knowledge of network management tools and concepts, especially in the context of macOS (Wi-Fi configuration, VPN, proxy servers, etc.).
  • Experience working with MDM solutions beyond JAMF (e.g., Intune, MobileIron) is a plus.
  • Background showcasing innovative thought and out-of-the-box thinking in systems administration
  • Ability to manage complex technical challenges across multiple organizations and stakeholders
  • The successful applicant will be a macOS and JAMF Subject Matter Expert for other technology providers at the University.

  • Architect, Engineer, and Implement fully redundant, highly available enterprise-grade solutions across multiple geographic regions
  • Manage and update an extensive software portfolio utilizing VPP, Configuration Profiles, packaging, and scripts to create custom deployment solutions.
  • Developing effective MDM policies, provisioning profiles, and configuration profiles for macOS and iOS devices
  • Developing and maintaining efficient methods for ongoing automated collection of accurate MDM device inventory data and smart groups
  • Work closely with Service Desk staff to build solutions to endpoint requirements and develop and optimize the enterprise Self-Service portal.
  • Help guide, troubleshoot, and maintain Apple Device Enrolment Program (DEP/ADE) enrollment.
  • Design and maintain complex build workflows for seamless device deployment

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
