Position Overview:


Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiothoracic Transplant team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at one of the nation's leading medical institutions, providing specialized care to patients before and after heart, heart and lung transplantation, those in need of pulmonary care, and those who require mechanical assist device support.


Key Responsibilities:




  • Manage the pre- and post-transplant care of cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with cardiologists, pulmonologists, surgeons, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage acute and chronic conditions related to heart, lung failure and transplantation.
  • Monitor patients for signs of rejection, infection, and other complications, adjusting treatment as necessary.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, and lab work.
  • Assist in the management of immunosuppressive therapy and coordinate care with transplant pharmacists and social workers.
  • Educate patients and families about transplant procedures, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and long-term care.
  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and transplant program development.



Qualifications:




  • For ACNP: Master's or Doctorate in Nursing with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • For PA: Master's in Physician Assistant Studies and certification by the NCCPA.
  • Active Maryland license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Cardiology or transplant experience preferred, but strong new graduates with ICU or cardiac care experience will be considered.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Salary Range: Minimum 55.81 per hour - Maximum 86.51 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
