Job Summary:

Lead the assigned ingredients spend category(s) to meet and execute HP Hood's sourcing strategies that will be a minimum of $100M Annual. Ensure sourcing and supplier relationships are successfully managed for a world-class supplier relationship, high quality source, supply and competitive pricing of materials and services that meet the company's quality and technical specifications under the direction of the Director of Strategic Sourcing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage assigned spend category by developing category plans and strategic roadmaps.
  • Drive continuous improvements in cost reduction and service levels for Hood's facilities.
  • Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Ensure contract compliance of purchased goods and services.
  • Determine potential cost savings initiatives and opportunities. Drive year over year improvement in costs and create value.
  • Recruit and manage suppliers that provide high quality products and services at the best price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Monitor and analyze market conditions for raw materials and assigned categories.
  • Oversee all activities related to procurement of a category, from intent to purchase through delivery of product and services.
  • Follow procurement policies and procedures. Help improve existing work processes with the goal of improved collaboration, efficiency and ease of execution.
  • Prepare and present written and oral reports for all levels of the organization.
  • Assign procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
  • Up to 20% travel.
  • Special projects as assigned.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Food Science, preferred.
  • Ten plus years' experience preferably in a dairy, food and beverage (F&B) or manufacturing environment.
  • Packaging experience preferred
  • MBA and/or professional certifications highly desired.
  • Professional Certification in a related field is a plus.
  • Project management experience or PMP certification is desirable.
  • Experience in category and supplier management is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally in a team environment


Skills and Competencies:



  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office application like Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced procurement tools like Ariba, GEP, Determine, etc.
  • Demonstrated skills in contract negotiations and execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem solving skills.
  • Take ownership and accountability for performance of categories, supplier relationships and delivery of value to the organization.



This is the reasonably anticipated pay or pay range for this position currently: $154k - $170k
