Job Summary:

Lead and manage the Strategic Sourcing team to develop and deliver HP Hood's sourcing strategies for over $200M in spend for major spend categories like Ingredients, Packaging, or Indirect Spend., Working with internal and external stakeholders, manage supplier relationships that minimize risk, optimize supplier performance, and reduce cost. The Director, Strategic Sourcing leads the strategy and tactical execution of category programs that support innovation, sourcing processes, contract and pricing negotiations, and enhanced supplier relationship management with the objective of Hood being a customer of choice. Develops best practices, policies and processes, mentor team and build credibility and resolve issues that get escalated in a timely manner. This role reports to the Sr. Director or VP of Supply Chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage assigned spend category by developing category plans and strategic roadmaps.
  • Manage team of Sourcing Specialists and Managers to ensure products and services meet or exceed established standards.
  • Strategically develop, implement and validate commodity/supply chain strategies with direct reports to deliver maximum value, service, delivery, reduced risk, and best price.
  • Drive continuous improvements in supplier programs and service through cost reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of market status and cost drivers for key commodities.
  • Review, analyze and monitor quotes and bids, negotiate contracts and service agreements as well as oversee contracts and service agreements initiated by the Strategic Sourcing team.
  • Communicate in both written and oral form with all levels of personnel both internally and externally.
  • Ensure contract compliance of purchased goods and services.
  • Create a motivating work environment that focuses on the highest degree of work ethics, innovation and ability to challenge the status quo. Provides leadership to team members and is considered a role model.
  • Has a strong ability to influence stakeholders, is persistent, and considered a subject matter expert in supply chain best practices.
  • As a key leader of the department, helps develop and execute the long-term strategic roadmap for the department and assigned categories. Thinks big but also gives attention to detail.
  • Plan and direct policies and procedures for procurement of the organizations goods and services.
  • Up to 20% travel as required.
  • Special projects as assigned.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Food Science preferred.
  • Twelve plus years' experience preferably in a dairy, food and beverage (F&B) or manufacturing environment.
  • MBA and/or professional certifications highly desired.
  • Professional Certification in a related field is a plus.
  • Project management experience or PMP certification is desirable.
  • Experience in category and supplier management is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate employees to achieve goals and objectives.


Skills and Competencies:



  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office application like Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced procurement tools like Ariba, GEP, Determine, etc.
  • Demonstrated skills in contract negotiations and execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem solving skills.
  • Leadership presence, ability to think big and be able to challenge the status quo and drive change.
  • Take ownership and accountability for performance of categories, supplier relationships and delivery of value to the organization



This is the reasonably anticipated pay or pay range for this position currently: $181k - 203k
