Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking 2 full-time Medical Scribes. Scribe responsibilities also include importing lab work, radiology, and EKG interpretations, and patient records; calling for language interpreters; initiating phone calls to skilled nursing facilities and families of patients; communicating with on-site pharmacists; retrieving food, water, or blankets for patients, and filling out death certificates. Will work various shifts including some weekends, holidays, nights, and overnights at Sandoval Regional Medical Center and UNMH departments.

The Department of Emergency Medicine utilizes medical scribes in the areas of Vertical Care, where providers see patients who may have same-day release or be assigned to a bed; the Emergency Department Resuscitative Unit, in which providers see patients with serious injury or illness; and Sandoval Regional Medical Center, where scribes work overnight to support providers who see patients in a community medicine setting.
