About our unit

Gerber ICU is eleven beds, two of those are observation beds, nine are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

This RN Supervisor is a new growth opportunity! The position is 50% administrative and 50% charge responsibility. In a two-week cycle, one week will be mid-shift, 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.; then the second week you will work 3 X 12 hr. shifts, 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. plus four flexible hours.

Scope of work

Assumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/ unit of the hospital. Some service lines may require the ability to be available for on-call to better support the nursing service/unit. Additionally, Inpatient Supervisors may be required to fill-in for the hospital supervisor as needed. Key responsibilities include assisting with the following: clinical support, unit based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, performance improvement, performance correction, and coaching and mentoring.

Corewell Health Nurse Supervisors are REQUIRED to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
• Master's degree in nursing (MSN) Preferred.
• Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 1+ years of related clinical experience (ICU or Critical Care) Required.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
• AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required.
• NIHSS Stroke Certification (NIH) Required.
