Job Summary

The Functional Analytics & Insights Senior Manager - Access is tasked with leading initiatives to embed a culture of measurement and experimentation within Genentech's Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) teams, with a focus on Access Solutions. This role establishes best practices and standards while partnering with technical and business teams to integrate data-driven approaches into daily operations. By collaborating closely with stakeholders across Leadership, Policy & Access, US Medical, and Finance, the Senior Manager influences strategic decision-making and drives initiatives that enhance customer experience and ensure resources are focused on high-impact activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise stakeholders to define clear, impactful business priorities, and develop action plans. Develop strategic options and recommendations by synthesizing findings, connecting insights across therapeutic areas, ecosystems, or analytic domains, and aligning them with organizational goals.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in tailoring communication to specific audiences, communicating and influencing senior leaders and simplifying details for stakeholder buy-in.

  • Autonomously operates and manages all stakeholders (with limited manager guidance received through pro-active upward management).

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand business needs, key questions, and priorities, and ensure alignment with project objectives and analytic lead direction.

  • Perform custom analyses by applying appropriate analytic techniques to address business challenges.

  • Take an enterprise mindset, linking individual responsibilities with broader organization; focus on outcomes that provide most business and patient value.

  • Contribute to continuous organizational improvement by sharing best practices, identifying opportunities for automation, and enhancing the efficiency and impact of analytic workflows.

  • Play an active role in the adoption of analytical products by staying up to date on the product roadmap, participating in training, user testing (as needed), and providing constructive feedback to ensure products are integrated into workflows. Embed and integrate products into workflows and foster Data, Analytics, and AI's product-first culture.

  • Effectively interact with and guide offshore teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and maintain high-quality deliverables.

  • Quickly adapt to evolving priorities by working flexibly within a modular structure to address various business needs and deliver impactful insights across the following domains:

    • Forecasting: Generate forecasts, perform uncertainty analyses, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic business decisions. Skillfully navigate and integrate both short and long term forecasting capabilities that contribute to the creation of integrated plans that represent the most appropriate demand plan scenarios to achieve GNE / Roche business objectives.

    • Access Solutions/gPF: Build, sustain, and enhance the critical forecasting and insights collaboration with ASPS/gPF to guide informed decision making, business planning, and leadership discussions. Drive shared ownership and accountability across multiple ASPS functions, US Commercial, and Finance organizations with an enterprise (global) mindset and multiple business planning time horizons to balance risk and business needs.

  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Who You Are

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent with advanced education.)

  • Growth mindset.

  • Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on the key insights that inform business decisions.

  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization.

  • Strong results orientation and adaptability in a past-faced environment.

  • Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences or related field.

  • MBA or Graduate-level Degree.

  • Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary data sources.

  • Demonstrated experience in Access Solutions/gPF domain

  • Influence with indirect authority actions and decisions in support of ASPS/gPF & CMG objectives and meeting business needs.

  • Experience with revenue forecasting, including patient-flow methods, patient funnels, account-based forecasting, trend-based forecasting (short and long-term), statistical methods, and uncertainty analysis.

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization.

  • Proficient with data analytics tools (excel, python, SQL, etc.)

  • Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.

  • Proficiency in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights and building compelling narratives.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $138,810 and $257,790. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
