GENERAL SUMMARY

The Economic Sanctions and Negative News Analyst is responsible for assisting the Economic Sanctions Manager or designee in day-to-day monitoring and/or investigation of potential sanctions and/or negative news matches. Ensures potential matches are identified, documented, resolved in a timely manner. Escalates applicable matches to Manager to possibly restrict, close, or report to OFAC when required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Conducts OFAC/Negative News screening on potential/new loan borrowers, new and existing customers, and counterparties, etc.
  • Conducts research and analysis documenting information to identify true/false matches, trends and potential risk, and communicates findings to Manager when necessary.
  • Assists branches and other business units in reviewing potential matches for OFAC Sanctions/Negative News, ensuring timely and documented response for each suspect case.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular overtime is required, this includes occasional weekend days.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum one year of experience in investigations or related position, using various research methods (i.e. internet, search tools, media tools, sanctions screening solutions, etc.) Familiarity with internal systems and processes.

Skills/Ability:



  • Self-starter, capable of working under minimum supervision.
  • Adept at multi-tasking and meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Results oriented team player.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of data, decipher higher risk attributes (transactional, geographical, product, customer type, etc.) and disposition appropriately.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Competent in in-house software.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint)


OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Cooperates and works effectively with others; recognizes, supports, and respects others. FDIC and Internal Audit examination results will be considered in evaluating the individual's performance.

$21.63 - $31.25 / hour
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
