GENERAL SUMMARY

The Loan Portfolio Officer ("LPO") is responsible for maintaining and monitoring existing Business Banking loan portfolio and works closely with Team Manager or Relationship Manager who owns the relationship of these accounts. LPO is expected to maintain close contact with these clients and leverage the relationship to identify additional new business opportunities, both in loans and Bank's other products and services. LPO is expected to provide "best-in-class" service to these loan clients while following established Bank's policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Work closely with Team Manager or Relationship Manager on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of such portfolio.
  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell Bank's other products and services.
  • Accountable for credit origination of new credits from existing client base, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments, and annual reviews.
  • Assist Team Manager or Relationship Manager to negotiate and structure the primary terms of the loan with the client; circulate concept memo as needed prior to issuance of term sheet/Letter of Intent ("LOI").
  • Work with underwriting team with the assistance from loan assistant and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report ("CCR").
  • Review loan documents, either internally prepared or by outside counsel, to ensure accuracy.
  • Work with loan assistants and loan support staff to ensure all necessary items needed for the closing of the loan are in process and well-managed; LPO is to manage the client experience of this process.
  • Portfolio management functions include monitoring and managing the credit quality of the assigned loan portfolio.
  • Review to ensure each credit is properly risk rated based on the Bank's risk rating system.
  • Review client's accounts and portfolios to identify, evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the Bank.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class customer service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Education: College graduate with a major in related fields preferred but not required.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of loan account relationship management experience, credit underwriting experience or a combination of both. Thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.
    • Must have loan portfolio management experience specifically commercial real estate and Business Banking or SBA
    • Previous underwriting experience in the requisite area of commercial lending preferred but not required.
    • Must have good knowledge and understanding of Bank's credit policy, risk management, underwriting requirements, and loan servicing.
    • Must have good knowledge and understanding of commercial and specialty group banking products and services and have demonstrated ability to cross-sell such products.


  • Skills/Ability: PC proficient. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus. Ability to work well independently with minimal or no supervision. Must be organized and detail oriented and able to multi-task. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high production and team environment. Excellent time management skills and be accustomed to working with deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Bank personnel.

$26.44 - $33.65 / hour
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
