Responsibilities

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System consists of a 160-bed leading psychiatric hospital dedicated to providing quality behavioral health services for a diverse population of all ages. Hartgrove is a flagship behavioral health facility within Universal Health Services, Inc. and throughout Illinois. Hartgrove is a state-of-the-art facility offering some of the most advanced technologies and programs found in the behavioral health field. We are dedicated to our teamwork approach and provide a highly compassionate and therapeutic environment, as well as offering a continuum of specialty programs throughout our inpatient, partial and outpatient services.
We are looking for a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our senior leadership team!
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) actively serves as a key member of the organization's core management team, ensuring effective management of operations to support delivery of quality behavioral health care and service to patients in two acute systems.
* Performs in acting capacity in absence of CEO.
* Maintains effective working relationships with internal managers and consultants in the interest of effective client case management and organizational operations.
* Assists CEO in developing and supporting the system's strategic business development plan.
* Develops referral relationships with physicians, mental health professionals and rural sources statewide.
* Communicates information about the facility and its services, develops new referral sources and maintains relationships with existing sources, acts as a liaison between the facility and clinical referral sources to ensure satisfaction with the services of the facility.
* Identifies opportunities for and coordinates contractual arrangements with mental health centers.
* Provides information from field to management, physicians and staff.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in business or clinical area with advanced/thorough knowledge of psychiatric and clinical care concepts and methodologies required.
Experience:
* A minimum of five (5) years of hospital experience and expertise in acute b ehavioral health care management practices and clinical operations.
* Must be organized and able to manage multiple diverse departments. Must be detail oriented, focused on nuances of multiple hospital operations, balanced with ability to see whole the clinical and organizational picture, and makes sound administrative judgments and decisions and appropriately manage communication with employees and vendors.
* Must be able to motivate, inspire, and communicate with individuals and groups.
* Experience in policy and procedure development and implementation; skills in analysis, evaluation and interpretation, planning, organization, prioritization, and time management.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge on all aspects of hospital administration and clinical services, TJC, Medicare, OSHA regulations, patient rights standards and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
