We're building safety-enhancing technology for aviation that will save lives. Automated aviation systems will enable a future where air transportation is safer, more convenient and fundamentally transformative to the way goods - and eventually people - move around the planet. We are a team of mission-driven engineers with experience across aerospace, robotics and self-driving cars working to make this future a reality.
As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Flight Software Developer at Reliable Robotics, you will design and implement real-time software for our autonomous flight systems. You will work closely with guidance, navigation, controls, and simulation experts to implement advanced GNC algorithms into the flight software stack, enabling safe and deterministic flight of our remotely piloted aircraft.

Responsibilities
  • Implement GNC algorithms in real-time embedded software
  • Integrate software components in C++ simulation, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop test environments
  • Optimize software for deterministic performance and flight safety
  • Verify flight software function and behavior
  • Contribute to flight test planning, analysis, and data review
Basic Success Criteria
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing embedded software for flight systems
  • Professional experience with C/C++ for real-time and safety-critical environments, and Python data reduction
  • Prior experience with version control, CI/CD, and software testing frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to ship and deploy software products
Preferred Success Criteria
  • Knowledge of GNC theory and common aerospace control architectures
  • Professional experience with software certification standards (e.g., DO-178C or similar)
  • Prior experience with real-time operating systems and embedded debugging tools
  • Professional experience implementing flight planning, guidance, estimation, or control algorithms
  • Private or commercial pilot license
GNC flight software is where the rubber meets the road between the conceptual control system design and real-world flight operations. This is an exciting opportunity to realize key features of the Reliable Robotics automation system and integrate broadly with systems and subject matter experts across the sensor, effector, communications, hardware, and software stack.
