Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Quality Specialist to join our Brewton Mill. As a key member of the Technical Team, the Quality Specialist works with the operations team to meet the facility production goals, focused on ensuring the mill produces right the first-time products, that are on time and meets customers' needs allowing GP to attain and keep preferred partner status. This role will report to the Quality Manager.

The Quality Specialist provides oversight for the two paper machines and rewinders. This includes monitoring pertinent parameters for incoming raw materials, intermediates, and finished products manufactured in operations. The role also assists with product development and trials, customer site visits, and support for the Containerboard Sales Team. The position is responsible for managing, measuring, and monitoring quality metrics for daily operations, and meeting or exceeding our customers' expectations. The Quality Specialist is responsible for responding to customer complaints and assuring site operations meet regulatory and compliance requirements for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal processes (procedures and policies).

Our Team

The Brewton mill is located is in south central Alabama about an hour from Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. The team is made up of 450 employees who produce white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard. The SBS material is used to make GP's Dixie plates. White top linerboard is used in the production of corrugated containers and displays. This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential. The most recent $160M capital investment was recently completed. The Brewton mill was also the first fully integrated pulp and paper mill in the US to receive an Energy Star designation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. What You Will Do

*Foster a culture of transformation and continuous improvement, building a quality culture and capability in team members.

*Drive sustainable quality processes and systems through application of management systems and a cadence of verification through self and with operations leaders.

*Champion applicable quality programs.

*Develop, manage, and report Quality Alerts in Panther.

*Oversee and implement trials within the facility, ensure acceptance criteria is established and approved.

*Lead change management, quality process improvements, and drive to a zero-defect culture with use of technology and analytical tools

*Lead and facilitate the root cause and corrective action process, with a mindset for eliminating future defects, providing timely resolution to customer inquiries, feedback investigations, and corrective actions.

*Assure supplier quality for raw materials meets our needs to produce quality products.

*Monitor and calibrate Lab equipment on a weekly basis and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment as needed.

*Monitor and analyze quality performance, inform leadership of the improvement opportunities, recommend solutions, utilize Project Management Tools to monitor implementation and validate sustainability of changes.

*Utilizes Measurement System Analysis and Run-to-Target metrics to improve quality

*Collaborate with other GP quality leaders to leverage knowledge and build a transformational quality system that achieves our vision.

*Comfortable working with front-line employees to executive leaders, utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills.

*Represent the Brewton Mill during onsite and offsite customer visits.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

*One (1) year of quality assurance experience in an industrial environment

*Proficiency using Quality Management Tools and Systems MiniTab Northwest Analytics Atlas Smartsheet's Customer Feedback System Panther ParcView Pi Vision

* Demonstrated proficiency executing quality processes, including change management, CAPA/RCA, and continuous improvement

*Experience with Statistical Process Control to monitor quality performance

What Will Put You Ahead

*Five (5) years of Quality Department experience in a manufacturing environment

*Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline

*Quality Certifications from a recognized industry organization
