KEY ACCOUNTS MANAGER

Summary:

Manages and coordinates activities and contracts associated with key large volume commercial and industrial end-users receiving natural gas services from CERC. Conducts all activities necessary to (i) maintain and grow margin associated with the commercial and industrial customer group; (ii) maximize end-use customer and shipper/third-party marketer/agent loyalty and satisfaction; (iii) leverage available internal marketing expertise and industry intelligence to encourage load-building and customer expansion, where applicable; (iv) actively promote CIP and other sales initiatives, where applicable; and (v) ensure full adherence to all Company policies, procedures and code of conduct requirements.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Manages and promotes conservation in concert with our CIP Implementation and Technical Sales Engineer groups to help achieve our yearly goals. This includes the promotion of various CIP programs, prescriptive rebates, and custom projects and requires a detailed knowledge of natural gas technologies.
  • Manages business relationships with assigned customer base through close contact with key energy decision-makers within the end-use customer and third party marketer/agent organizations and by promoting Company's products and services. This will include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the end-user's business, market conditions that may affect that business and potential products and services that may be provided by Company to assist the end-user.
  • In concert with regional engineering and gas supply, prepares project analyses of potential facilities construction and installation related to commercial and industrial gas services for review with regional management.
  • Prepares proposals, negotiates agreements and finalizes applicable contracts to cover all required service arrangements necessary to initiate and maintain natural gas service. This preparation also encompasses all necessary financial analyses for potential projects including the NOMAD investment model and allowable investment calculations. These agreements include tariff and Market Rate agreements. Maintains a detailed understanding of the Company's pipeline bypass exposure and uses that knowledge to minimize customer and margin loss related to bypass.
  • Participates and presents at various professional and trade organizations to build and maintain relationships with key customers and other partners.
  • Works closely with Dual Fuel and Firm/Interruptible customers in regards to curtailment. This includes properly obtaining all information on agreements, updating current curtailment contacts, attending and presenting at our Seasonal Energy Management Seminars, and communication with certain customers during times of curtailment.
  • Provides all information necessary to effectively address customer information requests and resolve customer issues. This will include the education of shippers/third party marketers/agents and end-users on the operating parameters of the jurisdiction specific tariffs and terms & conditions for their area.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding of regional interstate and intrastate pipeline services as well as a general understanding of regional and national natural gas prices and related strategies employed within the industry.
  • Develops and manages the margin budget for the commercial and industrial customer group within assigned territory. This will include expected growth of the regional profit on an annual basis and the monthly production of a detailed variance analysis of actuals to budget which will include plans to enhance budget surpluses and/or address budget shortfalls.
  • Works closely with transportation services administration to maintain system supply integrity by (i) monitoring end-user transport imbalances; (ii) conducting detailed communication with transportation services administration in the development of action plans to address balancing and nominating problems; and (iii) initiating direct shipper contact regarding nominations practices and potential changes to submitted nominations. This includes managing the development and dissemination of all information necessary to complete the contracting, account setup and invoicing process for commercial and industrial customers.



Education:

Requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics or engineering from an accredited college or university, OR a combination of education or experience providing equivalent knowledge, such as two years of college and four years of experience or one year of college and six years of experience, in addition to the experience requirements.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of five years of experience in a sales or marketing capacity , OR equivalent energy industry related experience.

  • Able to persuasively explain multiple products to a diverse group of business customers.
  • Able to function and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and intelligently discuss commercial and industrial energy processes.
  • Able to present packaged or customized sales offerings in a convincing manner.
  • Able to structure sales proposals that profitably target individual customer needs.
  • Able to plan, create and give professional presentations.
  • Able to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Able to close sales in an acceptable time frame.
  • Able to represent the company in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Able to provide a valid state driver's license, present and maintain a safe driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.
  • Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company's values and business practices and do both consistently.



Physical Requirements:



  • Able to operate vehicle and comply with all governmental driving regulations and company driving policy requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer or laptop.
  • Able to view screen or monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate cellular telephone and office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, calculator, etc.
  • Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time and walk intermittently.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.



Working Conditions:



  • Able to work in fast-paced office environment with a high volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines including working nights or weekends, as required.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
  • Able to travel to appointments across territory to meet with customers and potential customers.
  • Able to travel as necessary, with occasional overnight stay required.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
  • Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.
