Groundskeeper, Part-Time
Hourly Rate: $15.75
This position is an on-campus, part-time, up-to 19-hour appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.
Regular and temporary position available.

The Part-time Groundskeeper is responsible for helping maintain the external
Parkland College property/grounds, including but not limited to landscaping,
parking areas, signs, sidewalks and sports fields. The Part-time Groundskeeper is a 19-hour
part-time position, on a schedule established by the Manager of Buildings and
Grounds. A flexible or altered work schedule may be needed to meet project
deadlines. The Part-time Groundskeeper must be able to work independently and
accurately prioritize tasks.

Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain the lawns by mowing, watering, performing weed
- control and planting flowers and seed.
- Remove litter and collecting refuse for disposal.
- Plant, prune and maintain trees and shrubs.
- Remove snow and ice from driving and pedestrian areas.
- Replace/post outdoor signs.
- Report observed problems to appropriate departments for treatment/repair.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Frequent operation of lawn equipment, tools and machinery.
- Requires unassisted lifting of 50 pounds.
- Functional ability in the use of grounds equipment and knowledge of general lawn care planning and maintenance.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
