The NC State Women's Center is housed under the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. Our work fosters a sense of community and belonging through intentional programming and services focused on supporting student success and retention. Through our high-impact practices centered on gender and interpersonal violence prevention and response, students of all gender identities expand their knowledge base, enhance their leadership skills, and explore opportunities for personal and professional growth and well-being, including receiving the affirming support and resources necessary to thrive at NC State. |
Essential Job Duties |
This position works to support student success, as well as foster community and a sense of belonging for all NC State students. The Interpersonal Violence Response Coordinator (
IPVRC) position primarily serves to provide survivor-centered and trauma-informed care and support services, support, and referrals for student survivors of interpersonal violence (
IPV). The
IPVRC must have a demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care, providing support on a college campus, and responding to crisis and trauma. This position reports to the Associate Director for Interpersonal Violence Services (
ADIPV) and is an integral part of the Women's Center team.
Specific responsibilities of the
IPVRC include but are not limited to the following:
Survivor Services and Support:
- Meet with, assess, and provide crisis intervention services, emotional support, resources, reporting options, referrals, safety planning, assistance with accommodations, and accompaniment to hearings and support services for students who have experienced a range of issues related to, but not limited to, rape, sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking.
- Represent the Women's Center as an active participant on committees and task forces to help NCSU address issues related to effective sexual violence prevention and response, including the NCSU Sexual Assault Response Team, the Wake County SART team, and other local and regional coalitions.
- Coordinate and serve as a member of the "on call" staff for the 24-hour Sexual Assault Helpline for NC State University.
- Develop and execute post-support services to promote long-term healing, stability, and empowerment for student survivors.
Outreach and Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Counseling Center to design, implement, evaluate, and update activity plans for weekly Crafting + Connecting drop-in programming.
- Assist in developing a targeted outreach plan for under-engaged student populations (e.g., Vet School, Fraternity & Sorority Life, TRIO, Centennial Campus, etc.).
- Support the IPV Team in planning and executing outreach opportunities targeted to various student populations across campus and the community, including tabling at events and fairs and hosting monthly drop-in hours at satellite locations.
- Coordinate monthly educational events, workshops, and activities for Wellness Wednesdays, in partnership with Campus Health.
- Partner with the Women's Center's embedded counselor to develop and implement ongoing educational activities designed to promote mental health, community-building, and holistic wellness.
- Maintain a strong social media presence focused on response awareness, including creation of videos, FAQs, and survivor-centered infographics, as well as tabling resource materials (e.g. stickers, crafting materials, etc.).
Training and Professional Development:
- Create tools and resources to support survivors, including developing and updating the Helpline training curriculum and manual with new how-to guides, as needed.
- Support the Assistant Director for IPV Prevention Education and Training with educational opportunities for campus constituent groups, included but not limited to, Orientation Leaders, University Ambassadors, incoming students, University Housing staff, and colleges/departments.
- Assist in the onboarding, mentorship, and professional development of student staff, volunteers, and interns, especially those working in response services.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Complete and regularly update and maintain intake case notes.
- File all required mandatory reports, including Title IX and Clery reports.
- Support the ADIPV in analyzing trends and reporting on IPV on campus, utilization of services, referrals received, and resources provided.
- Serve as an active member of the Women's Center staff.
- Contribute to Women's Center budgeting, program development, and planning processes.
- Assist with assessment, strategic planning, and execution of Women's Center activities and programs, including tracking event/drop-in attendance and collecting program evaluations as well as survivor satisfaction surveys.
- Collaborate with the Women's Center staff to hire/select professional and student staff.
- Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in counselor education, social work, or related field required.
- At least 1 year of direct experience working with IPV survivors, preferably in a higher education setting.

Other Required Qualifications |
- Knowledge of and experience applying trauma-informed approaches to IPV response work.
- Understanding of intersectional theories and frameworks as they relate to issues of sexual violence.
- Strong listening and empathy skills and ability to provide mentoring to students as well as crisis intervention and referrals to survivors in a respectful and ethical manner.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, including on- and off-campus stakeholders.
- Experience developing programming for students, with a preference for survivor-centered and trauma-informed programming.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and vision of the Women's Center.
- Ability to serve in an on-call support role one week at a time every 4-6 weeks.
- Successful completion of background check.
