Systems Engineer III is a senior position responsible for leading the design, implementation and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role requires extensive experience and expertise in system administration, project management, and IT strategy.
Systems Engineer III will develop and implement IT infrastructure strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring the highest levels of performance, security, and reliability. This position involves leading complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Systems Engineer III is a key player in shaping the future of the organization's IT landscape and driving technological advancements. General directions are received from the Manager, Infrastructure and Operations.
Responsibilities

- Develop and implement IT infrastructure strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead the administration of Active Directory, managing complex configurations, group policies, and security settings.
- Oversee advanced M365 administration and management.
- Work with co-location, cloud (AWS) and managed service providers as directed.
- Lead the design and implementation of complex IT systems and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure the cloud and virtual server environment is optimized and updated with the latest software versions, lead planning and implementation of major software upgrades.
- Troubleshoot and successfully diagnoses server hardware or software problems of all levels of complexity.
- Document all system installations, maintenance, diagrams, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Support disaster recovery framework, plans and technology including annual disaster recovery exercises with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Support the implementation of a business lead business continuity plan (BCP) for continued operations in the event of a disaster, including plans to continue information systems functions at other locations.
- Lead IT projects, providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and team leadership.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

The targeted compensation for this position is between $100 - $120k base plus targeted bonus, depending on skills and experience of the selected candidate.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Miminum 7 years related experience
- Senior-level system administration roles.
- Extensive experience with cloud services and virtualization technologies.
- Leadership in IT projects and strategic initiatives, including developing project plans and deliverables
- Expert-level scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible). * Expertise in network architecture and security.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Extensive understanding of Microsoft M365 and related products.
- Advanced knowledge of server management in a co-location and public cloud (preferably AWS).
- Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
