The Senior Director of Planned Giving, at Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation (Foundation), is responsible for providing Planned Giving expertise, leadership, and strong direction for the Planned Giving program. Will lead, in partnership with the Vice President of Philanthropy, the development and implementation of strategies to market and secure deferred as well as current use gifts in a way that cultivates and solicits donors interested in impacting child health initiatives, including current donors, board members, and qualified prospects. This role will also be active in the local estate planning and professional advisor community to help keep Children's Hospital Colorado top of mind for their clients' charitable giving. This position will prepare and implement a business plan and budget that aligns with principal and leadership/major giving annual revenue goals and ensure activity meets long term strategic objectives. This role is responsible for planning strategies and practices that nurture, solicit and steward existing and prospective giving from all assigned donor portfolios. This individual will also carry a fundraising portfolio and be responsible for metrics created to generate individual revenue and all Foundation revenue in Planned Giving and will have reasonable travel expectations to support regional and national philanthropy. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Eight or more years working in a fundraising, estate planning and/or financial Planned Giving environment. The Senior Director of Planned Giving will apply the following knowledge and/or the abilities as follows: * Demonstrate solid knowledge of Planned Giving and successfully navigate complex planned gifts and estates or settlements on behalf of the Foundation. * Lead the Planned Giving business unit and oversee, encourage, and achieve revenue goals for future and realized planned gifts. * Interact with donors and effectively communicate with Foundation leadership on progress. * Ability to engage with legal, financial advisory, and tax planning community. * Collaborate with internal colleagues about donors in their portfolio and apply training as needed. * Maintain a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy, discretion, and lead in ethical fundraising practice. * Solicit and have financial knowledge and expertise with a diverse population of donors. * A proven and successful track record of recorded proposals and commitments and direct experience with personal solicitation and program development * Exhibit strong presentation and facilitation skills with demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. * Ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization, including Board members and Hospital staff. * Proficiency in computer skills, using MS Office software and other related software for donor record management (e.g., CRM) * Capability to work independently and take ownership and responsibility for autonomous actions. * Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents. * Ability to be highly organized, accurate and able to meet multiple deadlines on a timely basis. * Able to gather, analyze, and synthesize information and data from multiple sources and summarize findings to report clearly and concisely. * Demonstrate self-confidence and a positive attitude; demonstrates teamwork and flexibility. * Must have an energy level that ensures high quality productivity on a timely basis. * The ability to set objectives for the fundraising process and to organize and to inspire staff to meet those objectives. * An ability to enthusiastically advocate for children with an attentiveness to detail, and the self-confidence leading to creativity and flexibility, and an enthusiasm for delegating responsibility. * Effectively use interpersonal skills and have an understanding necessary for dealing effectively with a diverse body of volunteers, donors, physicians, professional colleagues, and staff * Demonstrate independence, reliability, accuracy, and efficiency in addressing assigned duties. An undergraduate (BA/BS) degree is required. No equivalency. Prefer candidates who have a law degree from an accredited law school (J.D.) or a certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), or Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP). Responsibilities
Associated tasks: * Manage a portfolio of 50 - 75 prospects, with a target of soliciting gifts of $50,000 and above. * Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward assigned prospects and donors. * Proactively identify new prospects and donors to qualify for portfolio assignment * Follow up on all leads identified by Prospect Development, volunteers, hospital, and foundation partners to further qualify for portfolio assignment. * Serve as a regional liaison through contributing to donor and prospect engagement strategies in all regions. * Travel within Colorado and nationally to meet with prospects, donors, and other key stakeholders, as necessary. * Maintain complete and accurate donor records, plans, and opportunities in CRM
Design, teach, and oversee strategy for Planned Giving and blended gifts across Foundation team. * Set, track, and achieve revenue goals for Planned Giving in alignment with Foundation wide objectives. * Recommend and implement strategic plan for Planned Giving initiatives. * Supervise Planned Giving Coordinator and collaborate with consultants and colleagues. * Integrate Planned Giving into major/principal gifts programs and join other portfolio managers on visits/calls with donors or prospects where an expert in planned giving is needed. * Develop overall marketing and outreach strategy in partnership with Marketing. * Maintain complete, accurate donor records and provide timely reports and updates to Foundation leadership. * Partnering with consultant, Gift Services and Foundation staff to fulfill Trust Administration and manage distributions from estates to secure as much revenue as quickly as possible. * Develop a strong working relationship with Foundation volunteers and leaders, as appropriate. * Develop and execute stewardship strategies for Tammen Society members in partnership with Donor Relations * Demonstrate ability to run Planned Giving software programs and interface with attorneys and financial advisors seeking information regarding charitable giving vehicles
Serve as lead with consultant and foundation staff to plan and execute quarterly Legacy Planning Advisory Council (LPAC) meetings and the Professional Advisors Luncheon with full engagement. * Engage and host professionals/experts in Planned Giving for Foundation-wide internal trainings and learnings. * Collaborate and coordinate with consultant quarterly Planned Gift training to internal staff. * Find and implement methods to connect with the Association of Volunteers (AOV) on importance of Planned Giving at AOV meetings or one-on-one conversations. * Engage Hospital Leaders on benefits of Planned Giving, including but not limited to speaking at Hospital Leadership meetings. * Willing to speak to other Volunteer Fundraising Councils and community associations/groups on importance of Planned Giving. * When invited to present at Board meetings, present latest Planned Giving techniques, relevant tax law updates, importance of non-cash donations, and addressing any questions the Board members have on Planned Giving? * Serve as a trainer and adviser to Portfolio Managers in securing deferred gifts and non-cash gifts within their portfolio (I.e., role play, advise, provide resources, identifying Planned Giving opportunities with donors, etc.) * Identify and cultivate a broader environment for successful Planned Giving education, discussion, and solicitation, using novel methods to grow number of prospects.

Salary Information Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $123,000.00 to $163,000.00Hourly Salary Range: $59.13 to $78.37 Benefits Information Here, you matter.
