Lead Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Leads and guides Respiratory Therapists. Leads therapists in providing respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician. Leads the process of preparing, operating and maintaining respiratory care equipment.

Job Responsibility

• Performs pulmonary function testing including FVL, FVC, Lung Volumes, DLCO, MVV as ordered by physician
• Performs methacholine challenge testing
• Performs 6 minute walk tests
• Performs exhaled nitric oxide testing
• Performs sputum induction using appropriate infection control methods
• Provides patient education regarding use of pulmonary medications and airway clearance techniques, and documents education visits
• Maintains testing equipment
• Generates reports documenting the interpretation of pulmonary function tests
• Performs other duties as appropriate

Job Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State, and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
