Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary
    Initiates and manages trading risk management policy, strategy and procedures, personnel, processes, reporting, models and methodologies, and systems of the trading activity for market risk, credit risk, confirmations, Policy and Procedures adherence, capital liquidity, quantitative risk analysis, and trading risk management systems. Manages the interface with company management and risk control staff to monitor compliance with the enterprise's approved trading policies. Identifies, analyzes and mitigates energy trading risks.
Key Accountabilities
  • Establishes standards for and manages the daily portfolio valuation and risk reporting processes.
  • Initiates and manages the risk model and methodology processes to create and operate valuation and analytical tools.
  • Identifies and reports policy or procedure violations to Senior Management.
  • Generates and presents risk management analyses and reports to the Trading Risk Management Committee.
  • Reviews Risk Policy Limits for appropriateness and proposes risk limit changes to the Trading Risk Management Committee.
  • Manages staff and external vendors for the efficient operation of the trading risk management system.
  • Establishes the tone, implementation and application of continuous improvement methodologies of team to improve quality, delivery and efficiency of assigned work tasks and processes.
  • Leads and serves as Sarbanes-Oxley managerial review for SOx Key Controls.
  • Provides all managerial support to employees, creates a positive working environment by supporting DTE Energy core values.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in a business discipline, mathematics, engineering, science or quantitative discipline.
  • 10 years of relevant experience, including 7 years of developing and maintaining risk management policies, procedures, systems, models, and processes in a trading environment or commodity merchant function, and 7 years in an energy markets organization involved with trading, marketing, generation development, acquisition, and optimization.
Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Master's degree with concentration in a business discipline, mathematics, engineering, science or quantitative discipline.

Other Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of the energy markets and various commercial activities including trading, derivatives, marketing, and supply management.
  • Adept skills to manage and champion risk management initiates and standards within the trading organization.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical risk measures including VaR, Monte Carlo simulations, stress testing and option pricing models.
  • IT skills in VBA, SQL and Access would be a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of wholesale energy market credit standards and exposure calculations.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Ability to present to the DTE Energy Trading Board and the Trading Risk Management Committee.
