Position Title:Profitability Analyst 1 Business Unit:Finance Reports to:Varies by Assignment Position Overview: The Profitability Analyst's primary purpose is to assist other team members in the production and delivery of profitability reporting and analytics. The Profitability Analyst plays a key role in the generation, presentation, and analysis of profitability methodologies and results by formally studying, developing, recording, interpreting, documenting and communicating the allocation and assignment of revenues and expenses. As part of a team responsible for overall profitability reporting, this position also performs general profitability analysis support. Primary Responsibilities: Maintains and updates cost center work papers, time studies, and cost studies to reflect current product, process, and rate relationships. Maintains and updates activity-based costs in the profitability system, including but not limited to, Sales and Relationship Management costs, Local Support costs, Corporate Support costs, and Indirect Expenses. Maintains the assignment of non-interest income accounts. Uses SAS and Microsoft tools to help design, develop and maintain reports which deliver monthly profitability results and analytics.Assists in the production of monthly profitability reports and follows procedures to guarantee the accurate reporting of results. Develops an understanding of the proper allocation of revenue and expense items in order to work on tasks independently and to perform responsibilities with minimal management involvement. Reviews and analyzes profitability results to ensure accuracy, to identify input data and results that should be brought to the attention of management, and to translate profitability results into actionable items for finance and businesses. Maintains effective relationships with business, finance and operations managers to assist in their interpretation of results, to identify and correct data issues, to communicate system, product and organizational changes impacting profitability, and to respond to analytical requests. Documents clearly allocation and assignment methodologies, process and system requirements, and maintains system decision trees, process flow diagrams and training materials. Follows all policies and procedures, including but not limited to, those related to data governance policies and procedures when utilizing finance systems, and monthly processing of Profitability results. Performs ad hoc analyses as determined by management and performs various administrative duties such as preparing and assisting with special projects as assigned by management towards meeting departmental goals. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
