Job Description

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, leave of absence programs, and other employee benefit offerings. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees and vendors regarding benefit-related matters and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and wellness.
  • Serve as the liaison between employees, multiple facilities and Corporate Group Benefit Specialist
  • Provide guidance to employees and HR representatives at local facilities on eligibility and enrollment.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment processes, including communication, education, and system updates.
  • Manage benefits onboarding and offboarding for new hires, life events, and terminations.
  • Maintain and audit benefit records in HRIS and vendor systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve complex benefit issues, including claim escalations, billing discrepancies, and COBRA inquiries.
  • Assist in developing and distributing benefit communications and resources.
  • Stay current on benefit trends, legislative changes (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA), and compliance requirements.
  • Support benefits reporting, audits, and data analysis as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, payroll backup, recruiting, event management, supply ordering
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits, insurance practices, and relevant labor laws.
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms (e.g., UKG, PlanSource or similar systems).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Familiar with working in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and leave administration best practices.
