POSITION SUMMARY

Constellis seeks a highly qualified Senior Director of Litigation Management and Strategy Counsel. This role, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, combines the legal expertise of a litigator with the strategic thinking and management skills needed to oversee and direct litigation efforts. This role involves developing and implementing litigation strategies, managing outside counsel, and providing legal advice to senior management, all with the goal of achieving favorable outcomes and minimizing legal risks.*

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Litigation Counsel to lead the planning and execution of comprehensive litigation strategies aligned with our business goals. This role oversees a high-volume litigation docket-typically 100+ cases-managing matters from initial assessment through trial, appeal, and resolution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in selecting and managing outside counsel, controlling legal budgets, and driving favorable outcomes through cost-effective representation.

Key responsibilities include providing proactive legal guidance to internal stakeholders, identifying and mitigating legal risks, and resolving disputes through mediation, arbitration, or litigation. The Litigation Counsel will draft and review pleadings, briefs, and settlement agreements, represent the organization in court and negotiations, and mentor junior litigation staff. Additionally, the role involves tracking and analyzing litigation metrics to inform strategic decisions and assuming evolving responsibilities in a dynamic legal environment.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state jurisdiction
  • Minimum 15 years extensive experience in litigation and litigation strategy, preferably in a corporate or government setting.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing outside counsel and budgets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Interest in learning new areas of law including employment law, personal injury, international law, and government contracts law.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
