General Purpose

The continuous improvement coordinator will receive coaching and direction from the site continuous improvement lead to support the implementation of lean workplace principles and practices in the site to improve critical processes and reduce process waste.

Objective

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator is responsible for driving a culture of operational excellence by leading, coaching, and sustaining Lean-based improvements. This role serves as a hands-on change agent, supporting the implementation of structured problem-solving, 5S, Standard Work, and other Lean tools to eliminate waste, improve safety and efficiency, and increase employee engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key driver of Lean transformation, fostering a culture of operational excellence through employee engagement, training, and consistent CI deployment.
  • Develop and implement visual management systems and lead 5S initiatives to improve workplace organization and standardization.
  • Facilitate Kaizen Events, 5S, Just-Do-It, and waste elimination events, ensuring effective follow-up, accountability, and result tracking.
  • Coach frontline teams in structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC, A3) and root cause analysis for sustained resolution of operational issues.
  • Partner with site leadership and support functions to integrate Lean tools and CI routines into daily operations.
  • Lead, develop, validate, and implement standard work practices, including SOPs, CILs, one-point lessons, changeover documents, and Job Breakdown Sheets (JBS)
  • Provide CI-related training workshops and on-the-floor coaching sessions to upskill employees and ensure sustainable change.
  • Promote and implement I-Card systems (Implemented Ideas) and other suggestion-based engagement systems to drive employee-led improvement ideas
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Technical school training or equivalent experience in basic maintenance, cleaning and sanitation, and inspection and lubrication on machinery preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification or higher (required)
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience leading Lean/CI initiatives in a manufacturing, logistics, or similar environment.
  • Proven track record implementing and coaching Lean tools: 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, and Kaizen.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CI digital tools (e.g., Miro, Power BI, Smartsheet).
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional teams and CI events with measurable impact on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Skilled in coaching front-line leaders and team members to own and sustain improvement routines.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to interpret process performance metrics.
