Referral Specialist - OB/GYN Clinic

Your role with us

As a Referral Specialist, you play a vital role in helping patients receive timely and appropriate care by coordinating referrals, securing insurance authorizations, and ensuring clear communication between providers, patients, and specialists. Your work helps remove administrative barriers, reduce delays in treatment, and support accurate documentation for both clinical and financial continuity. By using your knowledge of insurance requirements and departmental services, you ensure the referral process is efficient, thorough, and patient-focused.

What you'll do

• Process incoming and outgoing referrals, including obtaining authorizations, verifying insurance, and documenting all communications and outcomes in the EMR.

  Coordinate with insurance companies, providers, and patients to resolve referral and coverage issues.

  Manage work queues, RightFax, and Epic In-basket assignments, ensuring timely and accurate processing of referrals and external orders.

  Schedule appointments and procedures, perform registration and check-in, collect payments, and support front office operations.

  Serve as a communication liaison, providing clear and professional updates to patients, providers, and referral sources.

  Maintain up-to-date knowledge of referral protocols, insurance requirements, and departmental services.

  Perform additional front office duties and support tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications

• Previous EPIC Prelude and Cadence experience a plus.
