Responsibilities

Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Executive Director of Total Rewards to lead the design, implementation, and management of compensation, benefits, and recognition programs that attract, retain, and motivate a highly skilled workforce. This individual will serve as a key member of the HR leadership team and a strategic advisor to executive leadership, ensuring that Total Rewards programs align with company objectives and the unique compliance requirements of the government contracting environment (e.g., FAR, DCAA)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the strategy, design, and execution of Total Rewards programs, including base salary structures, incentive plans, health and welfare benefits, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), and employee recognition programs.
  • Ensure all programs are competitive, cost-effective, compliant with regulatory requirements (FLSA, ERISA, ACA, etc.), and aligned with the company's business strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Contracts teams to ensure compensation strategies align with pricing, proposal development, and contract compliance.
  • Monitor industry trends, benchmarks, and regulatory changes to maintain competitive advantage and mitigate risk.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on wage determination requirements applicable to federal contracts.
  • Lead all annual and mid-year compensation planning, including salary increases, bonus programs, and equity-based incentives (if applicable).
  • Manage third-party vendors related to compensation surveys, benefit brokers, retirement plan administrators, etc.
  • Partner closely with HR business partners, Talent Acquisition, and senior leadership to provide guidance on complex compensation and benefits matters.
  • Lead and develop a team of Total Rewards professionals, providing strategic direction and mentoring for growth and development.
  • Support M&A and business development activities, including due diligence and integration planning from a Total Rewards perspective.
  • Oversee the development of communications and training related to Total Rewards programs to ensure employee understanding and engagement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS 18+, MS 16+, PhD 12+
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, Finance, or related field required; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards or related HR functions, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the government contracting industry required; strong understanding of federal contracting regulations (e.g., FAR, SCA, DCAA audits).
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), or similar designation is preferred.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive strategic outcomes across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • In person office hours - Must be local to our HQ office - located in Chantilly Virginia.
  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, site visits, and leadership engagements.
