Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Trauma Program Manager. The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) provides leadership for Trauma Services and must show evidence of educational preparedness, 36 hours of trauma-related continuing education (CE) during the verification cycle, and clinical experience in the care of the injured patient. The TPM reports directly to the Service Line Director of the Emergency Department and Trauma Services, with a dotted line to the Trauma Medical Director, partnering with them to set beneficial goals for the Trauma Program. Responsibilities include:




  • The TPM assumes the day-to-day responsibility for process and performance duties as they pertain to nursing and ancillary personnel.
  • The TPM assists the Trauma Medical Director in carrying out the same functions for the physicians. Ultimate accountability for all activities of the trauma program resides with the Medical Director.
  • The role of the TPM in the educational, clinical, research, administrative, and outreach activities of the trauma program is determined by the needs of the trauma medical director and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
  • The TPM organizes services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to the care of the injured patient.
  • The TPM may have varying levels of accountability for individual program components, recognizing the wide range of responsibilities required to coordinate a program. A portion of the TPM's role is to define, access, and empower other personnel to meet optimal care standards.
  • The TPM may participate in various aspects of the Trauma Program, depending upon hospital structure, personnel support, available resources, and evolving needs of a developing Trauma Program. Development, implementation, and evaluation of systems and programs directed toward the provision of quality services for trauma patients from a multi- disciplinary perspective throughout the continuum of care, utilizing Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient as a guideline.


QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:



  • Minimum: BSN required.
  • Preferred: MSN preferred.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:



  • Minimum: Current Registered Nurse in California
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS),
  • One of the following: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Advanced Trauma Care Nursing (ATCN), or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Coordinator.
