This position involves clinical research in a neonatal intensive care unit hospital setting. This person will be engaged in job duties to ensure the smooth operation of study activities and that infants receive interventions and study procedures as specified. The candidate should have excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills. Under general direction, assists the research investigator by performing clinical research tasks, including, but not limited to completion of clinical research interventions on neonatal participants and communication with families regarding research-related tasks. This person will perform routine clinical research tasks for the study, set up and operate various clinical equipment such as placing EEG leads (after training), assist with research project data collection and database maintenance, and other duties as assigned. This study team member may provide training to support staff members and conduct other duties related to the primary study and other funded studies. The candidate should be able and willing to flex to tasks required for the primary and other funded studies as time allows.
Prior related clinical research experience in the NICU is preferred.
Job Duties
  • Assists with research projects; performs independent research; plans, designs and implements research projects under supervision; interprets experimental test data
  • Performs various clerical duties including typing, answering phones, placing EEG leads, completing compliance forms, populating database fields, preparing correspondence, preparing and maintaining bibliographies, and completing applications and forms.
  • Performs clinical research interventions on research participants.
  • Communication with research team and families of research participants.
  • Educate new team members on research interventions.
  • Equipment and supply maintenance.
  • Maintains and keeps research records and logs.
  • Follows existing research protocols.
  • Utilizes the electronic medical record to retrieve research data.
  • Compiles, processes, and analyzes data; records research procedures and results; files and maintains records; codes data for input for electronic data processing; inputs and retrieves data using computers.
  • Maintains and organizes research data through the use of research data management software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prior related clinical research and experience with infants and/or neonates is preferred, but we are willing to train the successful applicant in the specific skills required.

  • Knowledge of specialized medical/scientific terminology.

  • Ability to tend to details, maintain records.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Achieved or on pathway to a degree in a health related field with strong interest in gaining clinical experience. An equivalent combination of education and experiencemay also be considered.
