Position Summary The Store Profitability Director is a key finance leader responsible for driving financial performance and profitability across all retail automotive locations. This role will provide strategic and operational financial leadership to maximize store-level profitability, identify areas of improvement, and align financial goals with overall business objectives. The ideal candidate has deep financial acumen, a solid understanding of retail automotive operations, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. The Director will work closely with Store Operations and Field Leadership to identify business needs and provide the necessary tools and resources to act upon them. They will inspire others and foster a culture of continuous growth and evolution, helping to transition from merely running stores to creating an experience that is an integrated part of the store culture, setting Pep Boys apart from competitors and driving results. This position requires to be working in office, 3 days minimum per week from our Bala Cynwyd, PA office. Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial performance of individual stores and regions, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and execute store-level financial strategies to enhance margin, cost control, revenue growth, and overall profitability.
- Partner with Operations, Sales, Service, and Marketing to implement profit optimization initiatives.
- Design and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor store performance.
- Lead the annual planning, forecasting, and budgeting process for all store locations.
- Review cost structures, including labor, inventory, and overhead, recommending changes to enhance efficiency.
- Conduct regular financial performance reviews with store managers and regional directors.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and SOX/GAAP compliance.
- Provide financial modeling, ROI analysis, and scenario planning to support business decisions.
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts and finance business partners focused on store performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBAand/ or CPA preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within the automotive retail or dealership environment.
- Experience in developing profitable, holistic strategies for a global retail organization.
- Proven track record of driving profitability and performance improvement at the store or unit level.
- Strong understanding of dealership operations, including sales, service, and fixed ops financials.
- Advanced Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, SAS, Python preferred).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and business acumen.
